When I read "Hasselhoff" and "drunken video" on CNN this morning, I actually thought they were talking about that one music video he made while he was on the yacht in the frozen water.

That sucks. Best of luck to the Hoff getting back on the path to recovery. Especially for the sake of his kids.

I don't remember ever being that drunk.

(Of course, I wouldn't, either way.)

You know when I first heard about this I thought it was going to be rather amusing, but it really is just sad. I feel bad for him and his kids. But at least he wasn't out driving.

See, I feel bad for some celebrities. Because really, how many of us have at some point stumbled off a couch with no shirt on, trying to eat a burger?

Or puked in a glass at a sports bar in a hotel during a convention and then stumbled off, only to be found by your friends puking in a urinal?

The only difference is, we have to explain it to our friends, they all understand and give us shit for it, everyone has a good laugh, and that's that. Celebrities have to put on a big media show, apologize to the world and know that there's some video always out there.

    It sucks for them.

Such a shitty thing to do. Capture you at your worst and then show it to the world like it's going to make it better. If anything, he will be in a far worse place after this.

But on the upside for a lot of them, they get paid millions for doing their job, and even more if they do it really well. Yes, they do have to put on that media show and whatnot, but their paycheck far exceeds any press conference or whatever they have to put on to "explain" their actions.

Yeah, but getting paid more doesn't mean you shouldn't have privacy from whatever personal demons you have.

I agree but that's the price you pay for being a celebrity. I think it's a pretty fair deal. Maybe seeing his demons on tape and having the whole world see it will force him to seek the help he needs.

I think his kids taped him and released the video to force him to acknowledge his drinking problem. It's harsh but if he's still an alcoholic then this could help him be strong in any future moments of weakness.

    Alcoholism sucks.

What about the celebrities that don't have any chronic problems? Does one night out that the tabloids get you on camera for make you an alcoholic?

It's like the media - because of our love for the rich and famous - force them into some public apology. "I'm going through a divorce, I used bad judgment, blah blah blah." I just want to see someone get up there and say what I would say. "Yeah, fuck my ex-girlfriend, I wanted to get blitzed, and if we go to the video highlights, I obviously did. Thanks everyone!"

Especially when you have kids who know how to upload videos to YouTube...

"Hey, uh, Dad we kinda uploaded a video of you drunk on the floor eating an In-An-Out Burger."
