Like most of us, I fell in love with the Dinobots when I was a kid. I even had all 5 of them at one point. Unfortunately, they didn't make it to adulthood with me. So after searching for what seemed like an eternity, I finally got my hands on some Dinos. I looked for figures that were well worn, so I could get them all and not break the bank. I managed to put Slag together from 2 damaged green G2 Slags. One of Snarl's back plates was broken off, so I managed to replace it with some gator board. None of them have weapons and I removed all of the stickers because they were well worn out. I repainted them all in a modified G1 cartoon style, but kept Swoop red and Slag's head black because I felt the color coordination made them look more like a team. I tried blue eyes first, since they were blue on the cartoon, but I feel the red eyes make them look more powerful. I used golds and silvers instead of yellow and white so they didn't look too cartoonish. I even made my own Autobot symbols. Their paint jobs are pretty simple, but I think it works, despite the fact that "Mr. Bad Ass" Grimlock has rainbow legs.

So without further ado, as promised in my other repaint thread, here are my repainted and refurbished Dinobots.

Wow, those look fantastic! I love how the solid gold and silver paint makes them look so much more like the cartoon versions. Great job. I gonna' have to head off to Ebay and do this myself. I love it! :D

those look great!! Just wondering tho, had you thought of painting the grey a metalic color? It really does wonders for the toy itself. I just thought I would share with you that peice of info.

    Hey Switch,

Nice job. The "cartoon-like" colors really give them a fresh and clean look. And, now that I see the great job you did, I think grey fits better than silver. Nice work.

Very nice. Almost prefer them over the originals. Especially Slag, his dinomode is looking real good.
    Killer work man

Wish the top of my fridge was that clean

Thanks for all the compliments everybody, I really appreciate it!

As for making the grey a more metallic color, I didn't really find a good color and I was concerned that it might blend in with the silver. Besides, I kind of like the way the shiny gold stands out against the flat grey. Plus, I didn't want them to be nice and shiny all over. It's not a bad idea though and if I ever come across some paint that works, I might try it.

I originally planned to go show accurate with Swoop, but after I thought about the group as a whole, painting him blue would make him stand out and not look like part of the team. Every other Dinobot is primarily red and I didn't see why Swoop would be any different. Just my personal design approach to the project.

Yep they definitely look sharp. I'm sure you can find some repro weapons somewhere online to finish them out. Some of the paint is put on better than other parts but I realize you were working with messed up figures here. Good job :D
