Since someone has recently bumped this thread, I'll take this opportunity to ask a question: isn't this the chart that Fanstoys uses? I've been told not to use this for reference, since it's "fan made" and "not accurate".

What should I use instead? This one? http://s90690880.onlinehome.us/img20060508130446.jpg

So Cyclonus is taller than Galvatron?! That can't be right.

Hmmm, I'm abit hazy with the above but I think you are right. Galvatron seems to be half a head taller or less than Optimus in the 'Return of Optimus Prime'.

I'm curious...there's no scale for the Season 2 combiners? I would love to see that. I use that scale chart for my collection.

For example, I used Feral Rex (for Predaking) and Hercules for my Devastator...which in turn scales well with Year of the Snake Omega Supreme.

The only minor issue I have is that Hercules looks very bulky compared to CW Superion and Defensor but I guess that's 'fudg-able' for me.

It tended to vary, from what I remember, between Galvatron and Cyclonus being the same height and Cyclonus being taller depending on the episode.

But of course, my memory is hazy about G1, so maybe I'm wrong. :p

Whats the best G1 Optimus Prime toy to stand next to Leader Jetfire so that they are both in the same scale to how they were in the cartoon?

I was wondering that as well. I'm sure that the majority of the ones I couldn't figure out at first were from the HeadMaster line, but there were a couple of big ones there that stumped me. I've assumed that they were probably figures I've forgotten from the headmaster line, I don't recall any of them being from the series with Star Saber. I loved the city size one's scales.

I thought all issue's with scale were answered away with the movies explaining that they are made from Transformium:)  The decepticons were able to fly through the air as if it even loses weight.

This way, you can easily see how they grow and shrink, plus understand how they can all fit inside a jet and not weigh it down;)

Yes...and no. If we go by the chart, Cyclonus IS taller. Granted "Call of the Primitives" exaggerates this just a bit, but it is reflective of the fact he is taller.

At any rate, it's not so much an "error" as an "inconsistency." That may sound like splitting hairs, but it's not. A Deception having an Autobot symbol is a true error. Often, sizes and "scale" is just inconsistent. It's only until recently that these scale charts have been so revered (which can be a good thing, as it provides some consistency).

It loops as if Cyclonus is at least nearly a head taller consistently and on the chart.

I was kind of hoping the definitive scale was going to be a gif in which everything kept changing sizes and colors.

Scale in the old series was all over the place. There is perspective to be considered too.
