All three of those guys have put in better performances as Optimus than Cullen is doing in the current TV show.

 

Well the brand will survive, although my liver most assuredly will not considering what I plan to do it on that sad day. Although the day of Sir Christopher Lee's death will most likely end up with a stomach pump and me getting close.

Starscream survived Chris Latta, so I have every confidence Optimus and Megatron will endure.

 

As much as I like Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, I don't think that they're so important to the Transformers franchise. We've gotten different voice actors for different Primes and Megatrons, and the franchise didn't die then. Personally, I like Neil Kaplan more as Optimus then Cullen, and I'd like to see him get another role as Optimus or another Transformer.

 

This, entirely. That's a stupid notion, all it really means is that they won't be voicing them anymore. I'm sure Optimus and Megatron will still be redone over and over and over and over and over again.

 

It's inevitable, no one is immortal my view on immortality changed when Ernest Borgnine passed away earlier in the week.

They may be the Definitive voices of Optimus Prime and Megatron but they aren't the only ones. Personally I hope they retire as Optimus and Megatron once Prime is finished so we can forward and see who else can take up the mantle.

Personally I've thought of Michael Dorn as the next voice of Optimus and Clancy Brown or even Miguel Ferrer as the next Megatron.

 

Considering both of them have done less Transformers content than David Kaye and Gary Chalk - that's a bit of a nonsequiter .

Secondly, when they die, my thoughts will be more with their families than with our franchise.

Considering Transformers existed all threw out the 90's and early 2000's without them, hell no.

Plus look at any cartoon series. A lot of cartoons have lost voice actors but still exist. Looney Toons is even older than Transformers and the original voice actors are all long dead but it still has a cartoon series airing new episodes and several movies have been made.

They'd probably just have Gary Chalk and David Kaye voice Optimus and Megatron again.
