On the day Peter Cullen or Frank Welker dies, do you think that'll bring an end to Transformers?
No. Not a chance.
Transformers survived a long time just fine without them doing any voice acting.
Nope.avi you still have David Kaye doing both voices.
Why do you guys seem to have this obsession lately with the mortality of the leading men?
When that day comes, god forbid, no I don't see the franchise ending. I see dedications in whichever episode airs or is produced at the time, assuming the franchise is still going. But I don't see the loss of two of the most important voice actors bringing the series to an end.
Yes. Because absolutely no one else, in the long 28 year history of Transformers, has ever replaced Frank Welker and Peter Cullen.[/smartass]
Why would that end Transformers? The brand survived 20 years without them, it can do it again
Is the OP assuming they're both going to die on the same day?
It also forgets that neither man reprised the roles they did in G1 for almost 20 years. The franchise got along fine without them, even if their contributions to its beginnings and its recent history have been outstanding.
comedy edit: Yes, when the both die every transformers fan is going to get on a cruise ship with their bodies, sail out to international waters, and torch the boat viking funeral style.
Yes, because kids will refuse to buy transforming robots if two elderly men die.
Could I put that in my signature?
God forbid David Kaye and Garry Chalk actually return.
What a silly/morbid idea for a thread.
Those two were not always Optimus and Megatron. The series will go on just as it did from 1996 to 2006 without them.
I know, how many threads have been started for this topic lately? Dozens, it seems. Geez, guys stop being so morbid.
Enjoy their talents and contributions while we can...the future always handles itself. Always.
Why didn't Cullen and Welker voiced Optimus Primal and Megatron in Beast Wars?
No it won't end. It'll still continue strong whether or not they're a part of it.
Don't see why they would've needed to, given that they're not the same characters to begin with.
Transformers won't die. But the day Peter Cullen passes away I think should be the day Optimus Prime is also put to rest. Peter Cullen can voice Optimus Prime like no other, and for me, if Peter Cullen isn't doing the voice of Prime, then it isn't prime. It's a sad knock off without any of the quality that crumbles as soon as you open the package.
David Kaye, Garry Chalk, Neil Kaplan...
Separate names with a comma.
