If we wait long enough maybe just maybe WB will release The Dark Knight Returns as a 156 Minute Film on DVD & Blu-Ray. Note I'm assuming part 2 is 78 Minutes as was part 1.
Bought it last night, and watched it tonight. Damn, that was good! Honestly, it's been a long time since I read the orignal graphic novel, but I think that helped me keep an open mind about this film. I wasn't upset because they left out so-and-so important sceen, or such-and-such important line. In my opinion, they really nailed the essence of the story. The voice casting was good (I didn't care for Jim Gordon's voice at first, but I was used to it by the end of the movie) and the animation was beautiful. I loved the fight scenes, they seemed so fluid and smooth. All in all, I highly recommend this film, and can't wait till Part II comes out!
The best voice in the movie was Rob Paulson as Rob. He was the only actor to really make me believe the Mutant slang. Perfect casting.
I can't wait for the part where Batman stops a dominatrix with swastika nipples from robbing a convenience store by dressing as a homeless old lady.
I wonder if they will remove the yellow circle from his suit's symbol like the comic book did in issue 3,
Well I watched it and it was quite good, but still no where near as good as Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, or Under the Red Hood. It is up there, but definitely not the best. I loved seeing the yellow insignia used again though and it is a shame he changed to the black bat on the chest halfway throught the movie.
I've been debating getting this as I'm not a fan of incomplete stories. Does it feel like a complete story thus far or does it just feel like someone hit pause halfway through and now we have to wait for part 2 (whenever that comes out?)
Part one works very well on it's own, but you will be jazzed for part two once the credits start rolling.
It feels like a pretty strong story on its own with a blatant sequel hook; much like Batman Begins. Spoiler Hell, the sequel hook is even with the same character as it is in Begins.
Holy shit!! it's out already? Dam I need to pick this up as soon as I get off work. What's the best deal out there?
^^^COOL. Part 1 was excellent. It looks like the movie version lengthens the Batman vs Superman fight. I actually hope the movie changes the reason for their fight to anything but the book version's reason: the book was ending, and Batman had to fight someone, so, uh, Superman shows up and they fight.
Wrong... If you paid attention to what Gordon said to Bruce in Book 1 Kent being sent after Bruce makes perfect sense. The world that The Batman re-emerges into in The Dark Knight Rises is drowning in apathy, criminality on a scale that dwarfs anything Bruce went up against years before his exile, and the fact that the world has become one big police state. Kent is sent after Bruce because this society created by the Insitutions will not allow anyone to challenge their system let alone suceed. And that is why what happens in book 4 happens The Institutions of Government and Media declare war against the very idea of what Batman represents by his return
