Last Ford Crown Victoria build documented by St. Thomas Assembly I weep for her I like this car very much..... And I'm buying one after school
My parents used to have an old Crown Vic wagon that was used as a flower car for a funeral home before they bought it. They drove that thing til it fell apart.
It was a gas guzzling eye sore that should have been put down a decade ago. I for one am glad it's finally dead.
As soon as I saw the thread title, without looking, I knew who started the thread Crown Vics were the shit, I used to drive one with the police interceptor package. You could have driven that car through a brick wall!
I've always loved rear-drive V8 body on frame cars. I did'nt know bench seats were available for the car. I remember cars with bench seats when I was little. Ford is coming out with a special police car that is not available to the public.
Last I read on the subject, they were trying to sell the inferior new Taurus to police departments and it was all but universally rejected by the cops who'd actually have to drive/maintain it. Wouldn't be the first time that something new and inferior was needlessly foisted on someone who knew better though.
Omfg git outta here. I am almost stunned beyond words and if my computer was not in pieces I would spam pics of hot looking classic cars for days, I am confident someone else will though after that sad little attack on the history of the automobile...
Well to be honest, I thought this'd been put to rest years ago (along with it's Mercury twin), so I've kinda gotten over my grieving. Always liked these kind of cars, though.
Why do you even come into threads like this when you are only negative... You hate the car, you hate old cars... why bother? I don't go into threads about boy bands or barbie dolls because there is nothing of value in there for me... maybe I just don't have enough time to waste trolling in threads that I could care less about...
While I agree that the Ford Crown Vic is ugly; it was functional. It worked, the various police forces across the United States wouldn't have kept using it otherwise. However as a rule, old cars, particularly American and Australian cars, are still sexy as fuck. That's the thing with a timeless design, it never gets old. I heard they were going to use GM Holden Caprice. Although if Ford still want in on the action, they could take the Falcon platform from Australia and use it instead.
While I don't really like the crown Vic. the marauder. That was obviously the superior version. Down to the name.
The police in my town are pretty inglorious and they drive vics. So Crown Vics have a reputation. So it'll be good to know that the police here are using an outdated model for patrols
Speaking of which, you've gotta admire the Crown Vic's natural ability to make people slow the fuck down, at least until they get close enough to see what's up.
I'm suprise they are not switching to the Dodge Charger. That is what the Florida Highway Patrol is switching to. But I remember back in the early 90's, Chrysler decided to stop producing the Dodge Diplomat and the Plymouth Gran Fury. Both cars were popular with law enforcement, but the reason Chrysler ended the production of both cars was just to get a tax credit.
