I thought as a consideration to all the fans in this community, I would share my once massive Transformers AFA and MISB/MOSC collection with the board.

I hope it helps collectors out there ID the real thing from the fakes and knock offs now in abundance out there (many of which have made it by the AFA).

I sold it several years ago to a very distinctive, die-hard collector and savvy business gentleman in order to pay off school and personal debt. So please no offers as i couldn't sell any of these to you if I wanted to! They are looong gone.

Here are the pics of most of what I amassed. More to post, including the Red MB Tracks, MIB, and several other rarities. Also, many, if not ALL of the non graded items shown in the "All" 1984-85 category were eventually graded before sale. I have those pics somewhere, and am working on finding them. Red Alert and Bluestreak graded AFA 85's, while several graded AFA 90.

I plan to also build a commentary section covering fakes, repros, and knock offs from the late 1990's through the present as well. All of these toys were purchased and archived BEFORE the 2004 knock-offs started hitting the market, so this collection should be free of imposters.

Also, there is a great referential pic to an ACTUAL Pre-Rub METAL Plate Optimus Prime with UNUSED Bloated accessories. This is the toy considered the TRUE Pre-Rubsign Prime, contrary to the usual hoopla surrounding the non plated Prime's in "TM" marked boxes. It's only an authentic 1983 1/2 pre-rub if you can see the little squares in the sides of the trailer for the plates. I got that STRAIGHT from Karl Hartman when I posed the same question years ago.

    Enjoy

Very nice, I've been thinking about doing this myself. Not AFAing, but getting one of every 84-85 character MISB.

You built a great collection here... congrats on amassing it, then utilizing it for good purposes when the time came.

    re:

Awesome, if by great toys you mean my hot plate, and subscription to Playboy, you're welcome to them. They're long gone, and fortunately, with the sale, so is the debt i acquired in buying them....mostly.

I've also got half a bean burrito left, but was saving it for Christmas dinner. I'll split it with you. You're welcome.

Sick, just sick. That's all I can say. I'm trying to build mine to that, but mine's mostly loose figs so it won't be nearly as impressive.

Very nice. I know you must miss it often. But getting your life straight is defintely much more important.

If don't mind, what kind of price did you sell it for? Since it was quite a while ago and they are long gone at this point. Don't have to give an exact figure if you don't want to. >$10,000, $20,000?

Just doing a VERY quick guesstamate, at todays prices, I'm seeing about $17-18k there I think. Could be way off. Ofcourse price is always in the eye of the beholder.

Yes you are way off by today's standards.
Just the autobots cars alone are easily worth 20K.
The only thing missing is the group pic.
