Does anybody know more abou the "comet transformation", it seems to be that the Autobots come out of coffins. Or is it a special transformation of the protoform?
If sombody knows more, please tell me.

P.S: Ironhide complains that he's pissed over by Mojo, but he falls into a pool! How ironic...

The Protoform is the Tramsformer; it's a special alt mode used to get to Earth. When they land, they scan an Earth mode and then reformat.

Just to head off an potential complaints about Bay and Armeggeddon, the meteor-like entry modes existed as far back as Tom DeSanto's 2003 treatment.

This is kinda related to this topic... but not completely.

Were they covered in something as a protoform? If not, why is there "debris" falling away from them as they enter the atmosphere? It looks like rock, but I'd accept frozen metal being torn off.

As for the actual topic of this thread...
I don't think there were "coffin" like holding pods. The transformations seem small time, much like the actual character transformations. Plus why would they want to leave something behind to be detected?

Yes. It is stated on ben procter's site that they are covered in a layer of rock for extra sheilding when flying through space. (It was originally a layer of gell)

Also, there was nothing left on the ground when Prime got up. Except the crater.

Because all the rock had broken off and burned up in the atmoshere.

Or y'know, it could be just like a regular comet. Those things collect dust, ice, rock etc.

I know, but it was stated on the Procter site they had their own rocky encasement. He made note of it when he mentioned the scrapped gell concept.

maybe that's the point of the gelatinous cover. To accumulate rock and ice to keep the disguise.

Officially the comet/meteor forms are called Transition forms, according to Simon Furman.

Here's an article on the Transition forms. Hmm. We need to upload an image. Maybe later.

Basically, space dust and debris forms a crust as they travel through space.

Actually I wasn't planning on making any complaints but now that you brought it up; I really didn't like Armageddon. It was a crappy movie. Haha!
So what are you, Micheal Bays PR person? I noticed you always seem to stick your neck out for Bay or the movie whenever something remotely bad is mentioned about the TF movie. So do you work for him or Paramount or anything like that? I'm kinda curious.

I think that comet mode is just for one propose, and one porpose only. Crashing. I mean why land gracefully and covertly in a space ship when you can crash land into a planet going 8,000mph, and cause a raucous? I mean ask yourself, which of the two is more fun? :)

Beetlejuice: And it keeps getting funnier....every single time I read it!

Just because someone "sticks their neck out" for Bay or the movie doesn't mean they are on someone's payroll. It could just be that *gasp* they liked the movie! OMG!

Anyway, Comet mode with space debris that falls off during re-entry. Get up, scan, Tform, go.

    I'm just asking a question. I didn't realize that was a crime.
I'm simply asking a question based on my observations. That's all.
