From Comic Book Resources:
Bumblebee Producer Says Transformers Spinoff will Evoke Generation 1
it would be a suicide for TF-Movies
Well, what else can they do?
The continuity (or what barely passes as one) is all over the place and TLK's box office performance is proving to be less than awesome.
I'm pretty sure they've written themselves into a corner...
(By the way, does this count as a news credit for me or not exactly?)
Yeah that's not likely going to happen.
Does the link work for anyone?
I thought that they just done that!
Not working for me.
I don't think there's anything new here. I would say there's definite confirmation the film will have hardly any Transformers in it. "Dramatically less" could mean anywhere from one to five, I guess? And "a tight story in terms of its location" sounds like it won't be a world-spanning epic like the other films. Might be the whole film will take place in one small town.
Also I'd like to point out that "Bumblebee confirmed to appear in his classic Volkswagen Beetle form" is just an interpretation/misquote by the author of this article of di Bonaventura's earlier teasing statement "you might even see a VW Bug, you never know," so I wouldn't call that a confirmation in a million years.
I fixed the original post so that it actually links to the page in question.
Sorry about that, folks!
g1 style aesthetics will bring back those who may have been scared off by the bayverse + it makes sense with the film taking place in the 80s & all that, nice little nod...we'll see, i've learned long ago never to trust tf production news
I don't trust production news either. And I just realized the interview also doesn't suggest "G1 style aesthetics" anywhere either. Where is that coming from, where di Bonaventura says "The objective of that movie is ... to go back to 1985 and to go back to the original heritage, if you would, of the Transformers, G1"? He's not even teasing an aesthetic shift there, he's just linking the time frame of the movie with the time frame the brand started.
More Hollywood bullshit spindoctoring, nothing to see here, move along.
Why is he still here?
If all the films are supposed to part of the same continuity then it would be really weird to go from The Last Knight ascetic to something G1 and then bounce back to The Last Knight sort of look on the film after Bumblebee. It would be a like a war movie that had the look of our world, but then they do a World War II movie with a steam punk look, then jump back our real world again.
Oh, they obviously got their Marvel movie universes confused, they're going for the X-men approach, do whatever the hell you want, and pretend it all matches up.
Nope. Not this time. After "The Last Flop", unless a close friend suckers me into the theaters drunk off my rear...
"a time with less Transformers" = "a lot more humans"
oh, and also:
"...the tone will be light, and skew towards a younger age group."
Nope won\'t work this time. Female lead as in the real main character even though the film is called \"Bumblebee\". Fool me 5 times wont fool me a 6th time.
How much you want to bet the "G1 aesthetic" is there just to trick people into thinking it's a reboot lol
(Not that I think people are that stupid, but clearly Paramount does!)
Separate names with a comma.
