okay so going by G1, the transformers were a mass produced line of robots made for both commercial use(autobots) and military use(decepticons). so since they were mass produce to make money it sorta does stand to reason that there would be several bots who share same body.

    ... o.k.

of all of the mass produced bodies it would seem than bumblebee's line has survived, or rather, outlasted, all other mass produced lines.
    Examples:
    Bumblebee/Goldbug
    Cliffjumper
    Hubcap
    Bumper
    Tap-out
    Glyph (a fembot no less!)
Bug-Bite (a refugee Go-Bot took on the body meaning he found an un-used 1)

other than seekers, how many other bots do we know of that share the same body types? not many or at least not in this number.

so from the commercial line, bravo to the "BB mold" for it has truely outlasted all others!

and for our boys in the military line, way to go Seekers! you have both quality and quantity.

I wouldn't count the Sweeps, since they were made by Unicron.

Sideswipe, Red Alert, ClampDown, DeepCover, Tigertrack. And arguably Sunstreaker (Not to mention semi-canon Patriot/PoliceStreak) if you go by more modern body-type applications.

    Also Trailbreaker/Hoist
    Inferno/Grapple/Hauler
Wheeljack/Marlboor (technically never named but appearing)
    Reflector/Reflector/Reflector/Reflector/Reflector/Ref...
    Buzzsaw/Laserbeak/Sundor/Garboil
    Ravage/Glit/HowlBack/Blackcat(probably)
    Frenzy/Rumble/Enemy
    Rewind/Eject/Flipsides/Rossana
    Insecticons (self-perpetuating)

For similar conceptual reasons to the OP, I LOVE the "body form" concept as well!

If you accept the modern toyline interpretations, in addition to 'Streak joining the Lambo family above you also get:

    Mirage/Crasher/Dragstrip
    Onslaught/HardHead/Fortress(semi Canonical)
    Silverbolt/Skyjack/Darkwind(or Dreadwing...I can never remember which)/Hydra
    Jetfire/Treadbolt/Buster/DW#2
    Tracks(*sigh*)/Wheeljack/RunnaMock/RunnaBout
    Hotrod/Sideburn/Speedbreaker

And who all else I'm undoubtedly forgetting!

It IS a thing of absolute beauty, that!

One of the things that I LOVED about Animated was that DJW compressed the body-type-pool into an even smaller number of standard types, for me, somehow, it makes the the universe seem that much more "real."

G1 Ironhide and Ratchet? they were practically the same except for different heads and a siren for ratchet.

The Bumblebee body type is the most common and successful probably for the same reasons that the original Volkswagen Beetle was. It's small, reliable, fuel efficient, and inexpensive to produce. Perfect for a mass-produced vehicle, or a mass-produced Autobot.

to the guy who named the seekers, the name you were searching for was "solarstorm", i believe.

yeah see, beepers bodytype has the most survivors. 7 total. i supose bee would be energon efficient since he is near minicon sized in G1 ... near ... and come to think of it, i dont recall him failing any missions either. hmmm ...

almost makes you wonder how good of a seller his model was for the quints.
