I have a problem with what i see as hasbro's lazynes to paint alu wheels on car transformers.

I admit that with some designs, like movie barricade or jazz it worksn, because they are black or grey, but with just about all generations/classics/universe it does not. I hate the fact that generations cup has no painted alu wheels, it looks like he rides on 4 spare tires. Same for jazz or prowl or perceptor. I hope takara rectifies this in their line.

Personally it doesn't bother me. I couldn't actually tell you who has them painted or not since I really don't take that much notice of them.
I'd prefer the paint app budget be used for the robot mode rather than tires. I display in robot mode anyway.

:lol  I just bitched about this in Kup's thread.

I can't stand unpainted wheels. It's a huge personal gripe. I'll admit that there are some cases where it's tolerable (dare I say preferred?), but in general, unless the alt mode is an asian sports car, black wheels look terrible.

I understand that paint costs money, but to me that little bit of paint makes such a difference.

I could paint them myself, but I've never painted a toy and I'm not artistic in the least bit. I think any paint I attempt to put on a figure would probably make it look worse.

Black wheels are very cool imo, so I'm not complaining.

For some figs however, I guess metallic/chrome would be nice...

Paint apps cost money. Paint the wheels and something else will go unpainted. On the ones that I want silver, I use a silver sharpie. Easy to control and it produces pretty good results.

I'm used to painting gundams, so i muµight give it a go, but it's really beside the point that it still not the end of the world to paint the alu rims on car transformers. Even KO toys can get theirs painted...

I display everything in bot mode anyway, and sometimes the wheels are outright hidden. So I don't mind much.

And it cannot be that hard to take a small brush and a bottle of Tamiya Aluminum and paint the car's rims. There's nothing "artistic" about it.

Don't like it either. I'm waiting for the Takara releases and then decide which to take.

the're just wheels. its not going to affect my purchasing of a figure and its certainly not going to convince me to spend double on it to import the japanese version

I'd personally rather the paint was used on the robot mode or to bring out some cool details. Unpainted wheels barely bothers me.

Also, I never really notice Transformers' rims. I can see your point, though. This is a slightly more valid complaint than the thread way back about every winged Transformer needing rolling landing gear...

Agreed. Sometimes it looks cool, or in the case of trucks works.

    Not a dealbreaker for me.

There's always gotta be some compromise, and if it comes down to rims vs headlights or rims vs facepaint, or rims vs something more essential, then it's a compromise I can accept.

I appreciate it when it's there, but if they have to leave it out so they can have more important paint apps elsewhere, I can live with it. At any rate, it's one of the easiest fixes there is.

What I don't get is something like RTS Jazz, where they not only leave the rims unpainted, they leave the brake lights, the grill, the rear window, and most of the bot mode unpainted. ... Generations Drift somehow managed to get enough paint for all of these, and rims, and better looking plastic to boot.

In cases like Jazz, it looks like they just cheaped out on us.

Sure it would look nicer but it really doesn't bother me at all. If it did, I would just go the silver sharpie route.
