So with all the madness behind this years botcon and san diego comic-con and next TFcon etc..and all of them getting some form of exclusive that's reselling at stupid prices already etc..Which exclusives out there didn't rise to that level? Which ones just flopped that no one wanted..And I don't mean like that cup game etc..I mean a real figure, either repainted, remolded etc..I mean who saw that the G1 Kup recolor into Orion Pax and Dion would actually be worth something? So which ones didn't do that?

That magenta 2007 Voyager Starscream? It still goes at a high price..but, I don't think anyone actually wanted it..I don't think it went BOOM! and hit those dumb prices we're seeing on Shattered Glass figures etc..

Do you mean flopped at retail, or flopped completely on the secondary market as well?

Because while Magnus / Skywarp and Hardhead flopped at retail, they aren't considered flops these days due to third parties. It's an important distinction to make, I think.

For some reason, the BBTS Seacons reissue comes to mind.

I don't think Beast Machines Battle Unicorn did too well at BBTS. I seem to remember it being on clearance for a while.

Didn't BBTS clearance the Seacons down to $20 a few months back? It may have been $30. Either way, I still couldn't get myself to pull the trigger on them despite my love of obscure characters.

Damn shame, because that set is entirely worth the full price.

The quality of the set is great, the only flaw is that Overbite's beast mode gun mount is loose. A couple of drops of super glue in the port and it's good as new. Plus the stickers are, admittedly, awful.

Is there actually any reason why I shouldn't snag Piranacon?

No and there's no reason for him to be the biggest flop either.

How much do the colors bug you? That's the only real flaw in the figure, and it's apparent. I did grow to like them eventually, but if you can't get past it, then that could be bothersome. I love that the individual Seacons have their own very unique alt-modes, and the limbs can be used as a gun mode as well. Heck, they can also be used as giant Minicons. Or their stands can be used to turn any other limb into a giant Minicon.

The set is one of the most playable combiners out there, and a steal at $60. At the current price of $40 it's too good to pass up. They're six decent G1 figures with good playability in both modes (4/6 of them have elbows), a ton of accessories, look great posed, and are really one of the most playable figures I've ever owned.

Literally my only problems with the set are as follows:
It's sometimes tough to mount the figures on their stands
Some of the limbs don't make good guns for Piranhacon because of kibble
The sticker quality is, in fact, atrocious.
As previously mentioned, Overbite's gun port in beast mode is loose (but that's easily corrected).

Consider the fact I can't otherwise find fault with the set a glowing recommendation.

where did you get this from? while I agree it was probably the biggest flop, plastic quality was very good...really close, if not on par with the original. the only difference was really, as you said, the stickers. paper stickers with sloppy application.

you can remedy that though with a reprolabels set. seacon set might be the biggest flop, but it's in no way a bad figure.
