Hi, in light of the RTS Special ops Jazz getting an (albeit limited) national release, Id like to know your opinion if it stands up against previos iterations of this legendary character. So whats your favorite Jazz?

Human Alliance Jazz. I doubt any collector that have him will say otherwise. He may not look G1, but he IS the best figure designed with a title of Jazz.

    Agreed.

RTS is the shit, don't get me wrong, but HA Jazz is just an incredible feat of engineering and aesthetics.

I would suspect anyone who says otherwise either vastly prefers the G1 style or just simply doesn't own the HA figure.

    G1 Jazz.
Its a Porsche and I can use it as a bludgeon in a pinch with all the metal in it. (Diaclone got it right!) HA Jazz and Alternators Jazz is a close second.

I don't have RTS Jazz yet, so I'll go with what I do have, which is HA. Holy shit is that thing awesome. Not totally accurate, but makes up for it every bit. His Vehicle mode is better than some Alts! It's not prefect, lacking some articulation in the legs despite awesome arm articulation.

I would have picked Alternator's Meister, but it's very dated, lacks articulation in crucial areas and that damn arm always popping off. Plus, he just looks odd with his skinny legs and arms but with huge rounded feet and torso, but I still like him.

Animated Jazz was also a contender, but I'm not a fan of how the fists are stuck pointing slightly inward, and on mine the wheels are uneven, the shoulders rotate out of their robot mode position every time I pose him, and his hips move awkwardly, like the ball joint is lumpy. Consider him in the number two spot, and Meister number three.

I do like G1 Jazz. He has lots of articulation in the arms for such and old figure, but he really is a brick everywhere else, and his vehicle mode is... eh.

To those that voted for RTS Jazz, I would like to ask:

    1. Do you have the HA Jazz mold?

    2. What does RTS Jazz have over HA Jazz aside from its Geewun-ness
(which imo, best homage =/= best mold)

I am just curious. Maybe there are design ingenious-ness that I don't see in RTS Jazz that others see?

It does for me. I have never liked the movie aesthetic. HA Jazz may be more impressive engineering wise, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a bayverse design which some will never love like the original. Different strokes for different folks and room for all in this hobby. :)

Much as i love HA Jazz, it just feels like a toy based of a character called Jazz, rather than G1 Jazz.

On that basis, i think the RTS version may win.

But United Jazz is a better deco.

Agreed, all the engineering in the world wouldn't make me like a movie design over something more G1-inspired. RtS Jazz, in lieu of the United version, is a simple yet extremely effective figure done in an aesthetic I am partial to.

    1. Yes
    2. Better arms, better hands. I love the HA mold a lot, but the two things I don't like about it are the way the car doors give him flattened forearms, and I don't like the gimmicks made for the human figures - the interior of the car mode suffers, and he ends up with feet that are kinda silly. I'm not crazy about the mechanism for the rear bumper panels either, or the way the car hood can be finicky to line up cleanly in alt mode. IMO, best mold =/= most complicated. RTS is simple, easy, and still a lot of fun. I love the HA, Animated, and RTS molds, but if I had to sell them all tomorrow, the RTS would be the last to go and the one I would miss the most.

    RtS by a long shot.

    1. Yes I do it's a great mold and probably my second favorite Jazz mold.

    2. It probably does have a lot to do with the fact that I prefer G1 aesthetics to Movie aestetics but putting that aside, HA Jazz has very little ineraction possibilities with other toys outside of other HAs and Alts. The claw hands afren't to my liking and enither are the anorexic arms and legs. Also the head looks like it was put through a taffy machine the way its stretched out. Car mode is gorgeous of course and the transformation is fun. These are only nitpicks though, and it's not like I don't have nitpicks about RtS Jazz either...the free floating chest is a major irritation, but that's really the only negative I have to say about the RtS version :)

No, for the same reasons as...

Also agreeing that United > RTS, but I'll still take RTS > all the others. Although the Alt with the reprolabel set was damn sexy in its right.

I like the rts jazz more with HA jazz and alt meister being close runner ups. I like the g1 homage and actually like the mold itself!

I would have either voted Binaltech Meister, Binaltech Argent Meister, or United Jazz but none of them are listed.

I had G1 Jazz when I was a kid. This is how I rank that one and the ones I have now:
    1. HA Jazz (I love the movie designs and this toy is so much fun.)
    2. Robot Replica Jazz (It doesn't transform, but I love his design)
    3. Alt Jazz (My favorite Alternator)
    4. RtS Jazz (Is his chest supposed to click into place in robot mode? Mine is always loose...)
    5. G1 Jazz
    6. Animated Jazz (I really dislike the Animated designs and also has trouble locking chest into place)
    7. deluxe movie Jazz (Those arms are terrible)
