after picking up DOTM Skyhammer, and fiddling around with him for days now, i began to wonder if he's the best helicopter figure i own...


and honestly, i'd have to say "yes".


before i got my hands on him, i would have probably said it was HFTD Tomahawk, or maybe Energon Bulkhead, or even Incinerator (if you consider him a true helicopter).

but now i find myself enamored with Skyhammer. he's got a nice transformation, great alt mode and great bot mode, and all the extra peg-holes gives him loads of room to customize his weaponry. (i put HFTD Highbrow's gatling guns on the inner wing holes... awesome!)

so i ask you: what helicopter figure do you consider the best?


(note: i'm talking about just the figure itself, not the character)

 

Owning ROTF Grindor and Blazemaster, DOTM Skyhammer and Cyberverse Blackout, and Tomahawk...and having seen a ton of the other helicopter transformer...I'm going to say Skyhammer also. The biggest issue is how the rotor stores without looking stupid. The rotor as part of the chest looks amazing.

My next favorite is actually Blazemaster. I'm probably in the minority on this but he looks fantastic...especially the Tailwhip repaint.

 

i HATE the movie line, effin hate it, but to be fair, i saw skyhammer tonight and he was a bit tempting just because he looks pretty good for a movie toy, he is the rare exception for me tho, but he is still a movie toy so i will pass because he wont fit into my TF verse.

 

^I am glad you like Blazemaster, I can't stand that little POS. There are few transformers that I absolutely loathe and Blazemaster is one of them sadly. In helicoptor mode, he looks great! Love it. Robot mode is okay. His transformation however is what kills it for me. Anyone who likes Blazemaster, that's awesome, but Blazemaster and I just do not get along at all.

Tomahawk on the other hand is one of my absolute favorite helicoptor transformers. I love everything about that little deluxe! I wish I bought two of him. Wickedly fantastic toy!

Grindor/Blackout are okay. Like many others, I wish he was bigger. I like them.

Skyhammer is just pure awesomeness. I don't mind the white head and blue face. Everything about this guy is just great. I love the alt mode, the transformation is cool, and his bot form is just so heroic and great! For me, personally, Skyhammer is the movie toys Optimus Prime in the sky. He and Tomahawk are best buds now.

 

Live Convoy/Evac will forever hold a special place in my heart.

 

I really like Rotorstorm

 

I say its a tie between Universe 2.0 Blades and DOTM Skyhammer those 2 are just so damn sweet its hard to choose.

 

Although I don't have it I like Animated Megs.,

 

He's pretty cool. Animated Blackout too.

 

I'd say I like the design of G1 Whirl or Vortex a bit more. Especially when vortex has those two huge assault guns attached in vehicle mode.

competition would come from the Cybertron mold for evac also used for springer and blades. The cybertron legends toy that also got a Whirl and blades made.
and HFTD Tomahawk.

Perhaps my Obscure favorite would be the repaint of energon bulkhead, as quickstrike.

Skyhammer is great. But it does point out the potential for new generations helicopter molds in the future. Like vortex, Whirl, Sandstorm, Rotorstorm, Springer, blades, Skyhopper, Blaze master, Tracer, and Spinister.

Edit: Animated Leader Megatron is a Beast of a Helicopter. He's bulky and the blades become legitimate power swords. So that is skyhammers tough competition.

 

ENG Bulkhead was pretty good too.

 

No mention yet of Warbot Defender?

Energon Bulkhead is awesome. While he may have tail kibble, he's still solid in all modes. Got Skyhammer today too and he's just as awesome. Would make a cool Energon Bulkhead...

 

Anyways, I don't own too many helicopter tfs, though I have an inexplicable love for them. Of the ones I do own, I really really like cyberverse Blackout. Tomahawk is awesome too though, tough call.

 

I think my favorite is Leader Animated Megatron. Followed probably by Skyhammer.

 

Its gonna be skyhammer. That guy is pretty nice lookin.

I don't see how it's a petty comment. He doesn't like the aesthetic of the movie line. To each their own, right?
