Okay, so about a month or so ago, my mom surprised me for my birthday and picked up the full 5 seasons of the TV series, known as "The Batman". Personally, I love the way that they took classic characters from the DC Universe, and then re-designed them to fit in with the at the time newer series. The episodes with Joker and Penguin though, they seemed to be a little over the top sometimes, but overall, I loved the show. And The Batman Vs. Dracula was pretty good too. Ever since watching this show, I highly recommend it to others who've not yet seen it.

If you've not watched this show yet, be sure to check it out. You can get the full series at your local FYE stores for like $65 or so, but there's a total of 65 episodes, 13 to a season. So, very well worth the money. And the animated film isn't too bad either.

Feel free to discuss this show if you want!

I was turned off at first because well, it wasn't the one I grew up with & it wasn't something like Batman Beyond that build it on. However, after seeing a few episodes, I was like you know, this is actually a pretty cool show on it's own, and I completely get what you're saying about how they took certain things & made em their own without throwing anything away.

I liked this show a lot back in the time, I loved The Joker on that series.

Speaking of which, it's kinda funny how THIS Joker looks a lot like Ledger's Joker on the attitude [he is funnier, though] and similarly WILD AND SAVAGE appearence.

I liked how they turned him into a more physical foe to The Batman [as you can see in the video below, he could give Spider-Man one run for his money].

So this is pretty much the best animated Joker ever. - YouTube

I love their version of Bane too, best Bane I've ever seen [Voiced by RON FREAKING PEARLMEN, CLANCY FREAKING BROWN and Joaquim de Almeida], A SMAll video of him:

5 seasons? Damn that went on longer than I thought.

I enjoyed a lot of it, but similarly a lot of it narked me, specifically the Batwave stuff. WTF? Just something that was introduced to sell toys.

I think my only real problem with the show, was how they tended to just drop major characters when they introduce new ones.

First, Chen just up and vanishes when they bring in Batgirl.
Then Batgirl gets pushed to the side when Robin shows up.
Then Robin gets pushed to the side when the Justice League shows up.

It was just really annoying how characters would suddenly just become unimportant for no reason.

I also hated how they completely wasted a damn good Clayface, just so he'd be a generic villain.

I too own this whole series and I do really love it. My favourite villain in this iteration of the Caped Crusader was, hands down, Professor Strange.
'Gotham's Ultimate Criminal Mastermind' and 'Strange New World' are my favourite episodes.

My problem is similar to Glyphs, except to me all those changes for the worst were just to make it more like the "classic'" Batman, which bugged me even more. It's like the show lacked self-confidence and then just tried to copy the cool kids like BTAS. I think it would've been far better off if it just kept doing it's own thing.

The one thing that really gets me is Ellen Yin.
They really developed her character and gave her a very personal, yet non-romantic relationship with Batman.

They showed her earn her right to be Batman's partner.

Then it was like 'Oh, here's Commissioner Gordon' and they never even mentioned her again except for some off hand comment in 'Artifacts'.

Yeah, Yin especially pissed me off. It's like "Oh, sorry, you must be at least this classic to be in this show."

I really liked The Batman a lot, and feel sometimes it gets some flak because it's not BTAS. Mr. Freeze, Clayface and Firefly are my favorite designs of those characters easily, with Clayface and Alfred as my favorite versions of those characters overall. I also love Tom Kenny as Penguin and Kevin Michael Richardson as Joker.

I liked this show quite a bit, but the Joker was one of the only things I was not too keen on. I just felt that the Joker should NOT be a physical match for batman in this manner. I love the dark knight returns episode and the superman\batman team up episodes. Was quite fond of the rumor episode as well. Still haven't watched much of season two, so I need to check those out.

Also, you just gotta love how they gave Martian Manhunter boxerbriefs instead of regular briefs.

Also, I never understood why Joker was not wearing any shoes.
