They weren't wondering who will be their leader or what are they going to do.
When they were confronted with Galloway at the NEST HQ they seemed very worried and like confused.
when you know decepticons are running amok on a planet you were sworn to protect, you have not time to worry. only plan. my guess is that by chain of command, Ironhide was the most qualified to lead under those circumstances.
But that seemed more about the humans pointing their guns at them.
I was also kinda confused why anyone else besides Sam didn't even show any emotion about it, other than Lennox making a sad face for a second.
And why do we have to expect them to display human emotions? They're alien ROBOTS. Besides, it's war. There are casualties, and besides, Prime (at the moment) went out respectfully.
They were pissed that the military were pointing their guns yes, but it was heightened by the fact that they were already on edge due to Prime's death.
When someone close to you dies, you go through a whole range of emotions, including anger. When Ironhide screams "I'll tear you apart!", he sounds even more ill-tempered than usual, no doubt because he (and the rest of the Autobots) are all on edge.
maybe they read the script in advance?
it would have been nice for the bots to show a little remorse, but i guess they didn't really have time
Lack of time.
Plus nothing to say that they didn't have their moment in the forest before NEST guys got there and Prime's body was collected.
They all seemed very edgy and uptight. Ironhide in particular was on a hair trigger. I think he would have seriously attacked if Lennox hadn't run in.
I think the lack of concern of who is going to lead is understanable as they have ranks and Ironhide was 2nd in command.
However they seemed to have little remorse over the whole idea. Atleast Optimus in the first one mourned Jazz for a minute then threw his body away lol.
Its just horrible writing with no understanding the characters are supposed to have Souls. You really dont need try to explain the plot holes just accept them and pray something happens that we get a better movie for the next.
The Autobots were pretty edgy at NEST HQ, esp at Galloway.
They actually gave jazz a burial in the alliance comic. Prime towed him in a G1 style trailer to the navy port and they sent him to the bottom of the ocean inside that.
I got the impression that the Autobots were highly agitated when the army men raised their guns with Galloway's arrival, no doubt Prime's death had set them all on edge. Plus, the short dialogue between Ratchet and Ironhide:
"We should leave Earth."
"That's not what Optimus would want."
showed that the Autobots were momentarily disheartened and fading in resolve without Optimus. But Ironhide was determined to see Optimus' will carried on (i think he'd likely have assumed the next position of command).
But there was little time given for the Autobots to mourn their fallen leader, as Galloway quickly arrived to take them all away.
Yeah thats one of my fav parts of the movie..
Also liked the part with Sam saying to Bumblebee its all my fault Prime died..
And Bee talking through the radio...
I'd have to go with this. Prime went down fighting. He didn't get punked like Jazz. I would have liked a little more mourning for Optimus but I figured their just wasn't time to do it.
Yeah BB seemed upset and dispondent in that scene just sitting there until Sam started his 'you should hate' me rant.
because they express every other human emotion
and to those saying there just wasnt enough time, its a movie, there is enough time for whatever you want to show. They found enough time for the twins to make comments about being like ninjas, but they couldnt find time to express feelings at an important plot element?
Bay Logic: explosions, humping, fanservice, funny stereotyping overrules plot elements.
agreed...in the book it gives a little more detail once megatron and starscream left the scene. i just don't think that bay wanted to elaborate on the emotions, he prob wanted us to imagine the scene after
