The Autobot execution doesn't make sense to me.

Dylan said that the Autobot's needed to be taught about respect, Soundwave then says, "No prisoners, only trophies." But what did that have to do with anything? I know there has to be an answer to this, but I just can't grasp it. Also, how does executing the Autobot's teach them respect? The way I see it, to gain someone's respect, you don't make them fear you, so what's the whole point in killing them?

I dunno. Maybe it was Soundwave ignoring him.

I don't think they were on the same page there.

Or maybe he thought it would make an example of the ones killed to inspire fear and respect in the ones left?

Cons won't get respect if they don't actually kill anyone. It's like how Bowser in Mario is a joke now.

When you kill one (oddly enough, the peaceful Que), that shows a sign of respect caused by fear. Sure, they were all going to die, but atleast SW thought they'd go with respect for the Cons.

I think it was basically "respect us or this is what happens to you"

Honestly it was just a poorly scripted suggestion to kill them all. Which was clearly what Dylan wanted.

The Decepticons aren't out to make an example, they're out to kill everyone who opposes them and their plans. In the end, every Autobot would die if they weren't stopped.

Killing Wheeljack was a way to instill fear in the remaining Autobots, allowing them to suffer while they watched the other Autobots killed one by one.

Nothing says "Obey me" like a bloody head on a sign post.

Bloody heads (detached and mounted on sign posts) don't tend to say much of anything (unless you install a speaker), but you're right, brutality does send something of a message.

Something about Bumblebee shooting up Dylans apartment. According to the novel at least.

My guess is the "trophies" would be their dismembered remains and disembodied heads once they were done with the killing.

I am now imagining Soundwave with Bumblebee's head on a necklace and it is horrifying.

I'm actually cool with that, if it means that Ironhide and Wheeljack would have been spared.

Que and Ironhide would have been spared. I still won't acknowledge Que as Wheeljack.

Well that's your problem dude, not mine. That still doesn't change the fact that the character was indeed Wheeljack. You not wanting to believe it doesn't change the fact that he is, it just shows the rest of us that you have some sort of personal problem or you live in denial.

The whole scene was weird. Since when would the Decepticons take prisoners anyway? Was it because of Sentinel wanting to avoid killing them? (which causes issues with him offing Ironhide).

The fact that it all happened offscreen was both weird, jarring and only adds to the confusion. All it would have took as one 20 second scene of the Autobots being overwhelmed and Sentinel or Soundwave or someone saying "Take them alive" or something like that. Or even the Autobots surrendering, as odd as that'd be.

For me, I don't have problems understanding why they'd execute them, I just didn't get why they captured them in the first place.
