I'm building a custom Ark (rear exterior) jutting from the side of Mt. St. Hilary. I've nearly completed the Ark itself and I'm going to begin creating the volcano scenery around it.

It's about 3' wide and 1' high and goes into the volcano about 2' although I'm not sure how much will be showing once the other scenery is added around it.

    :)

It's looking great Jon, will you be colouring the rockets at all? Either way, I can't wait to see it in an episode of Badly Animated.

Looks good! By the way, did you ever wonder why all the floors in the Ark were flat despite the ship being crashed at an angle? Just a thought...

Haven't gotten to the painting yet, but yes... the thrusters will match the rest of the Ark. :)  I can't wait either!

I think it's the camera angle... plus, it's a cartoon... they could have crashed upside down and still been flat. :D

The Ark background was designed as print-outs by Mandingo Rex.

Do you more pictures of a different angle? The ones you have make it still look awesome but it also kinda looks like a pirate ship.

    FANTASTIC work!

Though clearly inspired by Mt St. Helens, which was in our collective consciousness in a big way in the 80's, in the few places it IS named, the Autobot-volcano has always been Mt St Hilary in canon.

Probably to distance the "Cool Volcano" idea from, you know, the tragic deaths associated with the real event.

Mt. St. Helens is a real volcano in Washington and the fictional Mt. St. Hilary is the TF story's volcano (most likely based on the real-life Helens which erupted in the 80's. I get the two confused all the time... but I've been corrected by uber-fans. Hilary=TF; Helens=real life.

LOL! okay, once i'm finished blushing, how much do i owe you for saying that? ;)

well, it's only the rear of the ship. i based it on the in-between scenes that always played when the Autobots were at HQ. the rest of the ship hasn't been covered because it will be covered up by the volcano. THAT is going to take the most time and work. i think the pirate ship aspect is because of its shape. the thruster end is all we ever see jutting out of the volcano at around a 45 degree angle or so. i think when it's complete or even during the process, it will start to look more familiar to the show. the idea is to make Transformers: Badly Animated out of ALL original content so we no longer have to steal cut-scenes from the original show. i'm planning on doing an aquarium scene for the underwater Nemesis and the tower that comes up when the Decepticons leave and return through a similar process that i'm creating the Ark.

thanks but don't be too hard on him. i made the same mistake in one of my Transformers: Unsolved Mysteries videos - "The Saint Helen's Saucer." i was so disappointed when i realized i had used the wrong name... but then again, it did add an element of realism to the video and made it more "Unsolved Mystery-like." :)
