For those of you who are into movie toys, Amazon currently has Premier Edition Hound listed for just under 11 dollars!

I'm in Wyoming. The two nearest towns with a Walmart, target, etc are Either Rapid City South Dakota (70 miles away) or Gillette Wyoming (60 some miles away in the opposite direction).

For me, brick and mortar is just too far.

(My town does have a Shopko. However for Transformers all it has is 12 Squeeks)

It seems like states that get one thing aren't getting the other

In Alabama we got Unicronus and wave 2 deluxes but no wave 2 legends, prime masters, or wave 2 voyagers

I was looking through the sightings and the nearest place with hungurr I found was KY

Probably people with retail situations like mine. The pegs at every Walmart, Target and Toys R Us have been literally empty since December, and for whatever reason the stores are not ordering any stock. After a month of seeing ‘Wave 2 out in the US’ you start to get concerned that your area will miss that incredibly brief window of stock availability that occurs for everything after wave 1 of a line so they go online and pay the inflated markup to avoid missing out.

I’m not doing it because the price is ridiculous, but I totally understand how someone sick of the endless supply drought would just eat the extra to avoid the hassle.

You'd be surprised. At one time I sold five different places. Stuff I couldn't give away at shows disappeared in hours on eBay. Stuff I couldn't give away on eBay sold for a premium on Amazon. Stuff I couldn't give away on Amazon flew off the table at shows.

I've seen ecommerce studies that claim Amazon has a more affluent customer base. I think that's a little skewed by the ridiculous percentage of 4th quarter sales they supposedly did. Between 1/2nd 3/4 depending on the report.

Also, the fees are stupidly high on Amazon. They only give you $4 to ship anywhere between your garage and Jupiter's moons. Between that and fraudulent A2Z claims, I think competitive pricing is more of a shock.

Someone will eventually pay the inflated price. Maybe not today or tomorrow. It used to take 6 months after the end of a line to hit the 2X mark. I'd guess 2020 for POTP, unless they redo the character.

Inflated prices 6 months to 1 year after the line ends makes sense to me. It's now an item out of print with little chance to get rerelease.

But these prices when the figures are on the shelves, just not by you, is insane.

My local Walmart hasn't gotten in any new Transformers since the first wave of TLK. So I pulled the trigger on these guys. Just over $20 for the three of them. 2 day Prime shipping. The first wave Pretenders aren't much more, but these are a better deal. I'll wait for saturation and a price drop to get the wave two Legends. They aren't worth $14 each. Mom had a medical issue, so I made it to a city with a Wal-Mart.

There was not one single Transformer o the shelf. Not just POTP, nothing. Just empty pegs.

The problem is outside of Asia there is no guarantee anymore that anything after Wave 1 will actually make it onto shelves by an individual. You don’t see people willing to middleman the dinobots or Unicronus, so whether they’re available in the next state or the opposite coast you’re either paying markup or you aren’t getting them.

I seldom see anything beyond the first wave locally. RID sold well enough to restock a couple of times, but it ran for a few years. Short runs like the Generations or movie lines get the first wave locally and that's it. I get everything from Amazon Prime now. I won't pay scalper prices for a toy. I won't even pay BBTS markup unless I'm getting a few of other things on sale to make the difference.

The worst case scenario, I never own a particular toy robot. It's not the end of the world.

    Thanks. Yeah she is.

On the TF front, I stopped at the other Walmart in said town. They had one Moonracer and the two Decepticon Legends. Got the cons.

He's listed at Amazon (as linked by engledogg), but nothing says he's exclusive to Amazon.

He's also listed at wholesaler ACD Distribution, which suggests a not-quite-exclusive release at least.
