So my collection has grown quite a bit to the point where I really need to pick up some insurance. Any recommendations from fellow AFAers?

Check with your home owners or renters insurance first. You might get a better deal with someone you already do business with.

Great sets there Andy. I admire your patience and determination in your collecting!
As far as the price debate goes or Afa collecting in general. I would advise people with questions regarding collecting Afa to read this thread from start to finish. There's a lot of great discussions as well as beautiful pics to look at. Unfortunately since a lot of Jons posts were scrubbed it's a little hard to follow at times but still worth the read.

Wow! An amazing set and one heck of an investment!

I just picked up my first AFA, which I'm absolutely crazy about - AFA80 Dirge:

Can't wait for MP Dirge now to complement him :)

I also have a MOSC Cliffjumper, which I'm considering getting AFA'd, but it's got a hole in the bubble:

does anyone with experience of AFA have an opinion on whether it's worth me getting him AFA'd (given the cost - inc postage etc as I'm in the UK!). I've no real feel for whether he would bomb on score (under 40?) given the hole? The rest of the card and bubble are pretty good:

Congrats on your first AFA purchase! They will most likely score the Cliffy a 50 or lower. I would recommend just getting a nice case for it. I'm not sure there's any way to get the bubble support for it if it's not sealed into a graded case but it might be worth asking.

I agree with Cordy, grading it might not be worth it. I have my Minibots in AFA's slide cases and they display very nice :)  And, also congrats on getting your first AFA piece. Careful for the addiction! ;)

Thanks guys it's been a long road after many years to get those together. It wasn't without a lot of help though!

Welcome to AFA collecting & congrats on Dirge! I agree with not grading Cliffy too IMO. Definitely a sub 50/40 as 60's have a very minor crack or pin hole in the bubble not a piece missing like that. Maybe just get them to seal it in a case with the support so it stays put. The only reason to grade it would be to verify it's legit vintage & originally sealed to the card & not re-glued, tampered with or anything like that. I live in Australia & had no issues sending stuff express to AFA so far so I wouldn't let that stop you. The bubble glue will eventually dry out so it will need a support eventually graded or not. I hope that helps :)

Thanks for the feedback guys - really appreciate your views, which confirm my suspicions. I'll go with your advice & stick with just a case I think.

Noticed that all of your prerubs have the bubble support on them. Did you purchase them all that way or did you have any re-cased? I'm worried about the glue, so I have a couple that I'm debating sending in to be re-cased, but I also worry about the AFA marking them down when they regrade.

Yeah I'd slide case that Cliffjumper, I used to use AFA, but tend to use UKG now, living in the UK it makes sense.

Not sure if this is the right location or not, but has anyone had issues with AFA's customer service sucking? Missing projected completion dates (when paying for expedited grading), not replying to emails, not giving shipping information, not answering the phone, etc?

I have graded some of my autographed stuff, and they do consider it a flaw. But you can request a qualified grading scale where the signature isn't considered. Flaw and still get a good grade.
