I don't really get the hate for The Last Airbender. While it wasn't a good movie, it was certainly far, far better than I was led to believe by comments many people have made. I had actually read somewhere that the movie went so far as to have a black screen with text and voiceover at some points to expand on what was going on. That never happened at all. I was expecting the worst acting ever after watching the deleted scenes online (it was terrible), but in the movie it was mediocre, but passable.

The movie actually piqued my interest enough to start watching the animated series. There were a ton of movies that were far worse in 2010.

I was picky about this year.

    No order:
    - Diary of a Wimpy Kid
    - Shrek Forever After
    - Megamind

Um, the rest I saw weren't that bad. I avoided major shit bombs like Jonah Hex and Last Avatar.

It didn't happen throughout the movie but it DID occur in the beginning which was bad enough. They intended to make it something akin to Star Wars but it just ended up really porrly executed and unecessary. Originally, there were going to go with a live action version of the intro for the animated series. It was filmed, but ultimately did not make it into the final cut of the film.

From what I saw and in order from most terrible to least terrible:

    - Furry Vengeance
    - Shrek 4
    - Cats & Dogs 2
    - Prince of Persia
    - Clash of the Titans

Furry Vengeance was quite likely the worst movie I have ever had the misfortune to see, it literally has no redeeming qualities and you just end up feeling sorry for Brendan Fraser who seems to have hit the lowest point in his career.

Shrek 4, the sequel that really wasnt necessary. Not a single laugh in the whole thing, not even a smirk. Just more of the same tired 'humour'. I'd say the same exact thing for Shrek 3 too.

Cats and Dogs 2, a rare case of a sequel being better than the original. In this case though its like saying one horrible abomination is better than another because this one isnt bleeding everywhere. All the James Bond nods were nice, but at the end of the day its still talking animals, so its still garbage.

Prince of Persia, nothing especially bad, but nothing particularly good either. Always thought the games were very overrated and the film did nothing to really draw me in. Best part was that none of it ever happened, sadly I dont get my ticket fee back for that.

Clash of the Titans, again nothing really bad but nothing great either. Wouldnt say it really deserves a spot on the 'worst of 2010' list but the thread asked for 5 and I didnt get to see 'Alpha and Omega' or 'Vampires Suck' or any of the other theatrical tragedies released in 2010.

Im going to be totally honest when I say I didnt have any desire to see these movies. Not one.
For the record I wanted to see Scott Pilgrim, A-Team, Predators, Machete and Piranha3D.

EDIT: That ran on quite a bit longer than I wanted it to.

Um..it was almost exactly like the intro for the first episode of the animated series.

Movies used text/voice over all the time to set up the story, it wasn't any worse here than it was anywhere else. It was a basic tool.

I'm talking about the actual opening used per episode. You know, with the red background and silhouettes, the map etc? That would have been a far better alternative than the text and voiceover that they used. Of course, it wouldn't have made the movie much better.

The level of hate will vary generally based on this:

If you have never seen any of the cartoon, it may just come across as a bland fantasy movie with some bad acting. So yeah, not great but from your point of view, not the worst movie of the year.

If you have seen the cartoon in any great amount, especially if you're lucky enough to have it on DVD or something and watched the whole thing. After that the movie becomes a travesty, a shambling abomination with none of the soul and heart that made the show great.

I belong to the latter category and I turned the movie off (DVD) after about fifteen minutes in abject disgust.

You don't understand what I'm talking about do you? I'm referring to the whole thing, not just one part. After the silhouettes there was supposed to be a shot of the map, the sunset with the fire nation ships and army, and finally Roku demonstrating all four elements.

If it looks like a crappy movie, I will not watch it. The only movie that I outright hated was Clash Of the Titans.

    1. Last Airbender
    2. The Kids Are All Right
    3. Due Date
    4. Get Him to the Greek
    5. Predators

numbers 3-5 weren't terrible but definantly wasn't as good as I thought they were gonna be. Number 2 was way too over the top (and not in a good way) that it ruined it for me.

It's number 3, because they talk about the events of Predator 1 in it. And I don't know why people hate it either. I thought it was a decent movie.
