So, 2009 was the 25th Anniversary. Did Hasbro and Takara (et al.) meet your expectations for celebrating 25 years of Transformers?

EDIT: What could/should they have done differently? (And do you think they ever had a chance?)

The stuff we got celebrating the 25th Anniversary was kinda underwhelming, as in I was expecting a little more.

They were muuuuuuuch better than my expectations.

But that's mostly because I didn't expect anything.

i was delighted with all the 25th tat hasbro pumped out, and MP skywarp made me very happy indeed.

i was slightly confused by them bothering to release the "warriors from three worlds" pack, but what the heck. more toys = good times.

It was okay. Several of my favorite characters got new toys, that was pretty awesome. Hasbro said they were gonna continue celebrating into next year too at some point, didn't they?

Either way, I'm not disappointed, but it was a little lacking. Considering what else was going on this year and all, I can understand it being somewhat pushed aside. Here's hoping 2010 will bring more goodness.

This. Though I'm happy with what few G1 reissues they released.

25th Prime and the new Classicsverse figures suited me just fine. Clearly a lot of effort had gone into the movie and it's line which showed in figures like Leader Prime and the HA line, on top of that the scouts that easily became the best part of the line.

Despite what people think of the movie and it's toyline, HasTak did a fine effort for 2009. I was pleased. The only thing I could have asked for was more Classicsverse, but I understand how splitting priorities would cause each line to become significantly worse.

There pretty much hasn't been much going on about the 25th Anniversary in the UK, maybe a sticker or two on a couple of Toys. (MP Skywarp and Universe Countdown maybe).

But I think Hasbro UK actually tried to say that because TFs started in the UK in 85' that 2010 would be the UK's 25 anniversary...

Which means I should be expecting that 25th Anni Prime and all the rest of that cool stuff this year...

But I'm not holding my breath over this, I suspect if I did I'd be dead because I reckon Hasbro UK are full of crap. Prove me wrong Hasbro UK!

Well considering they had already reissued most all of the first year toys they could in the previous years, there was precious little left for them to make...

Even though it wasn't much, I really liked some of the Classicverse redecos we got this year. Those made the anniversary for me, especially the Wal*Mart Powerglide and Hardhead (two of my favorite figures as a kid). And then there was that movie...

It was okay by me, but I'd still like to see a Classicverse Jazz and Wheelljack.

Terrible. We got a movie that, despite doing well in the box office, got universally panned by critics (which, IMO, it deserved the beatdowns). We got a great show canceled because of said craptastic movie. We got shafted of potentially great characters re-imagined for the Universe line, and we didn't get a 25th anniversary special that was like what the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles got for their 25th anniversary.

But, we at least got news of a good video game coming out next year. That kind of satisfies me.

Overall, not much of a good year for Transformers.

I would've liked to have seen more G1 reissues before the end of the year, Perceptor & Insecticons were cool but I hope they have no plans to stop there. Personally, I'd love to see a reissue Dinobot set in 2010, how sweet would that be?

Pretty underwhelmed. Could have used a few more figures, and Botcon basically did shit with it, they had some good guests, but there toys were pretty lousy, although I guess thats a diffrent animal than Hasbro/Takara, still as a whole it just seemed like it was secondary to the movie which isn't suprising really.
