That's the stupidest question for a mother to ask a child.

I was at ToysRUs today buying an Ultimate Optimus.

There was a mother and her three kids.

The youngest one wants a toy airplane.

The mother says, "We are just here to look, we are not buying toys, We only have the money for school supplies."

Then she asked the child a question, and the answer was obvious, but it was the stupidest question to ever aska child in a toy store.

After the child answered, she grabbed him by the arm and dragged him out, then the boy was crying.

I still think it was the most stupid question ever. You want to know what that question was?

Let me repeat what the mother said. "We are just here to look, we are not buying toys, We only have the money for school supplies. What do you want more? School or this toy?" Obvious the boy answers the toy.

I like to troll my kids once in a while. I might ask my son the same question some day, but I'll probably laugh at his reply and end up getting the toys and school supplies anyway.

Why did she go to TRU in the first place if she can't buy toys, but only school supplies?

This! Seriously its totally pointless and perhaps even a bit mean to the kids. i supposes TRU may have had back packs, they could have gotten for school , but serious , it makes little sense.

Wow. Question would make more sense if she replaced "want" with "need". She was obviously just being a bitch.

Seriously I would hate to see that kid getting his first car. Go to a dealership just to browse. This looks like the perfect car for you! But I want that one over there! *Smacks kid*

Just abuse the child by taking him to the toy store, for school supplies......should have went to walmart or target, it easier to dodge the toy area. But what I dont understand why did she get upset over the correct answer..

She'd probably drive through a Porsche lot and when the kid gets excited laugh at him and keep driving, and buy him some $4000 used clunker.

when my mother went shopping, she used to leave me in the toy department and knew that i wasn't going anywhere.
    Picture it, Mid-80s...
i am standing in an aisle filled with G1 toys.
    Dinobots, Metroplex, the autobot cars.
they could have set fire to the place and i would still be reading toy boxes.

but, there was a trick to it. Mom rewarded me (in a crappy precursor to Frequent Flyer miles) with a pretty decent TF after so many trips without fuss to the stores. it worked.

but a parent that just dangles forbidden fruit in front of their kid and snatches it, they're idiots.

I'd be ok if that happened to me, but only if my car was stolen the following night...

Who would have thought there would be kids in a toy store?

Kids go to toy stores all the time to look. They don't need new toys all the time but it can be fun to just look. Plus it's important to learn that you don't always get what you want.

I used to just look at toys and not get any, but yeah if you going to ask then you have to be willing for either answer.

Its not unusual that they were there for school supplies. The last few TRUs I've been in sold pretty much everything for kids including snack foods. They're the best places to find things associated with kids' toylines ALONG with the toys.
