I've been playing through Castlevania: Lords of Shadow the last couple weeks and been extremely aggravated at times due to the frustrating controls.

That said, it made me think of all the other games I've played in my life where I overall liked a game or wanted to like it, but wished that certain parts were just plain left out.

Even games I love like Gears of War 2 had those damn vehicle diversions or Resident Evil 5 with the angry, Shrek dude that's damn near impossible on Veteran difficulty.

    So, fellow TFW gamers:

What games and instances can you think of that pissed you right off in the recent past? I seldom get angry playing video games, but damned if some, and pardon the pun--really do push MY buttons. :D

The stone angels at the gate in the cemetery level of Ghostbusters. They're small, fast, there's many of them, they have ridiculously strong attacks, and they will assault you from all angles while you try to wrangle and smash them into a stone gate.

oh man Kitty, escort missions are the worse!

for me the most difficult i have ever had was in god of war 1,in January this year. in the room before Pandora's box, you are faced with a horde of harpies and archers, a moving floor and death wheels. for 3 days i played 6 hours trying to get past this part.

never made it past it. i just gave up.

Stealth missions. To be specific, the ones that will end your game right then and there if you're seen. I had no problems with Assassin's Creed because even if you were seen and attracted 15 guards, you could still kill them all.

This is why I've never been too good at Metal Gear games. I always want to kill whomever shoots at me. :D

Oh yeah, stealth missions. I have no patience and tend to Leeroy my way through stuff. I'm horrible.

Hated that part. I'll add the final boss in LOZ: Phantom Hourglass. I can't seem to beat him.

Yeah, DK pretty much nailed it. "Protect so-and-so" missions. The biggest irony is that usually so-and-so character is supposed to be an excellently trained marksman/gunman/mage/wizard/mercenary/etc...so why can't they lend a hand when the 40 fuckin' game-specific soldiers show up to stomp us?

I'll agree, escort missions are ALWAYS horrifying to play through.

That said... I would escort a hundred moronic AIs that love to wade right into heavy gunfire before I pick up Battletoads and attempt the Turbo Tunnel again.

I don't know if they count as escort missions, but one of my banes of gaming are the parts where "you have to carry shit so you can't do the shit you normally do" missions. Usually you're carrying something special or holding some idiot's hand and you can't use your normal weapons and abilities while enemies take pot shots at you because you can't jump or run away like a pansy.

Of course I agree with escort missions. Why they still sneak into games I don't know. Note to any designers out there: when you think to yourself "no we can make an escort mission fun", you are very wrong.

Otherwise, Battletoads and any speeder bike part. They were made so impossible that I just couldn't like the series and they may be the reasons why the series is no longer around.

To be fair, a TON of 8-bit games had some ridiculous parts made for the player to have to continually restart the game. Mega Man 9 pretty much celebrates that fact.

Oh, and most recently for me, having to protect Ratchet while he heals Omega Supreme. That one single part kept me from playing through the game again on the hardest difficulty.
