I personally think Maguire fits Parker to a T. I also think Topher works as Venom, as it appears that they are making Venom the Antispiderman. I look forward to seeing what they can do (also I did not recognize Topher at all in the trailer, so they must be doing something right).

You only say that because you don't read the comics. Poser.

He seems a bit, well, wimpy to portray Venom in the movies. I suspect the symbiote may somehow alter his strength and make him stronger overall.

As for Maquire he's an okay Spider-Man, but I think they should've gone with more of an unknown then someone like him who was rising up when they got him. There is a lot of talent out there that I think could've played Spider-Man better, including Topher Grace. He has the skiny, lanky look and has developed good comedic timing that would've helped him portray Spider-Man. In the comics, Spider-Man always had a quick wit and sharp tongue that he'd use against his dummer enemies. When Maguire says a standard Spider-Man quip, it sounds forced, not natural.

I'd say McGuire pulls off a good Spider-Man. Why do I say this? Nearly 2 billion dollars says a lot.

I think McGuire was alright as nerdy Peter Parker, but he's never gotten being Spidey right (at least to me), far to low key and a bit dull. I think Grace would've been a better choice for but now that he's Venom (which I do like) there's no way he'll be Spidey.

    Blam!

Guess what kids, Superhero comics don't work on the big screen when moved panel for panel on to celluloid. Raimi hasn't done us wrong yet, let's not get all emo about something we really know very little about.

(((_o emo kid cares little for your pain, for he bleeds his own in rivers of red on his bedroom floor.

I expected the actor playing Eddie to be er, bigger size but what the heck...I will reserve passing comments until I watch the show.

I think Forman will do a good job.

But all the hard stuff is done by the computer animators at any rate.

Very true, plus the fact that McGuire from the sounds of things doesn't want to make another sequel, I do agree the Grace would have made a much better Spider Man than Venom and even though I'm a huge Venom fan(its basically one of the reasons I read spider man in the 90s), Im hoping it won't make much of a diffrence but I do hate it when movies stray too far from there source material.

TheJacker, Stan Lee has pretty much 0 say on these films, he's definitely in the far back seat in terms of creativity at Marvel these days.

Movies need good acting, and if they'd cast for muscle rather than acting skills, the movie would suffer tremendously.

Also, since this Venom is based on Eddie Brock Jr, far from a roided up freak, it pretty much doesn't matter if Topher Grace isn't pushing Mr Olympia standards.

I'd rather see Red Forman than Eric Forman. Robocop > Spidey 3.
