Who died pointlessly? Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's pointless.

Haven't watched the episode yet, so the first thing that popped on my mind while reading the thread title was, "Wow, TFP must be so amazing with their newest episode".

But seriously, TFP may have something good in your eyes that kept you going up to this point (besides Dreadwing, of course), right?

They sure had no problem keeping Starscream alive when he pissed off Megatron a countless number of times.

Starscream, who has ruined Megatron's plans and tried to kill him numerous times. Megatron always spares him. Dreadwing, who was mostly loyal but disobeyed one order. Megatron kills him

So? Megatron apparently has more use for Starscream than he does Dreadwing.

Unless of course he means to make a planter out of Dreadwing :D

Dreadwing's death was a necessary sacrifice. His character arc was through. Starscream had his position.

Honestly, who cares? It's a character in a show. Grow up.

You guys seem to forget how easily the transformers franchises' off characters. Look at Beast Wars when Scorponock and the others were killed in one episode and pretty much were never mentioned again, just because they had to "make way" for new developments. If anything, I feel somewhat like we got off easily, I was getting the distinct feeling what with all of the Beast Hunters stuff that we were going to lose like a good 50% of the cast on both sides. Still could happen I suppose though.
I am sad about Dreadwing (especially since I just got his toy, dammit) but I sort've guessed it was coming.

It was pointless. To show you shouldn't piss off Megatron? That still comes off as unbelievable especially since we just had an entire episode devoted to showing every time Starscream was pissing Megatron off. Come this week, look who Megatron is defending from Dreadwing.

His "character arc" was pitiful. Cry about his brother for 2 or 3 episodes, stand around in the background for like 8 eps, give the Autobots a plot device, try and get revenge on Starscream, die. That's it. His death was far from necessary.

Well, if he wasn't needed for Beast Hunters, maybe they could have had him and Wheeljack team up as a crime-fighting team in a spinoff animated comedy sitcom...a Transformers Odd Couple, if you will.

He has no place in the season finale as the others do.

They've all been there from the beginning. I can understand the rage towards this point of view, but I think the writers want this to circle back to season 1 and show how far everyone has come since the start.

Why does every death have to have a point? It doesn't in real life. You like your little tv show to hand hold everything for you? Not everything need to have a "Point" or complex reason. Maybe the "point" you should take from it is shit happens. You don't fuck around with the wrong people. Or many other "Points" you could derive from it.

dreadwing was looking for it....still I think he should have switched sides instead of killed. I thought he was but when he didn't I knew his end was coming.

    I hate this argument.

I'm watching a TV show. I'd rather a death of a character I like serve an interesting/entertaining purpose. If I wanted real life I wouldn't be watching a cartoon about transforming robits from space.

Again "fucking with the wrong people" as a point for the death is pointless if the previous episode showed SS annoying Megatron many times. It's like having the moral of a story be "don't steal" but the main character stole something to succeed in the previous story.

I agree it was a bummer of a death but it doesn't hurt the show for me.

    Autobots still killed his bro.
