Over the years, I have seen all of the different series come and go...
They all have had some kind of impact on me as far as how I felt about the Transformers as a brand at the time. As I look back on these differnet series; tv and toys I have noticed that I do like some characters from all the lines. This makes me have faith in the ability of Hasbro and its staff to not only make good decission about what is coming out this year but for years to come.

Do I like everything that has ever come out, no. Thanks to the people at Hasbro though with their wide selection of toys and different Transformer toyline, I do not have to like eveything. I can put one box back down on the shelf and move on to something I do like.

Thank you Hasbro for making the 26 years of Transformers an awesome experience for me. I hope that The next 26 are just as good!

    Sincerely,
    A Happy Fan

I have sent a letter to them years ago. I got the same generic return which is fine. I just wanted to put it out here since they occassionally read TFW threads.

    I agree.

Even during the dark days there was always something to like.

Thank you Hasbro for planting the seeds to my addiction in 84 and supporting it to this day.

My name is Transbot90210 and I am an addict.

    Thanx

When I was younger I sent a letter in to join a Power Rangers fan club that had long since been defunct (I saw it on a VHS of the original series). I got a free Ninja Storm Megazord.

    But anyway, nice letter.

my question is... why does everyone kiss hasbro's ass? Isn't it takara that designs and builds everything?

    Who built G1? Takara
    Masterpiece? Takara
    Movie Figures? Yep.. Takara too

    Am I wrong?

Also... who came up with the Autobot/Decepticon concept? For some reason... I thought it was marvel.

The worship of Hasbro is my new religion from now on, simply because they were amazing enough to release the remaining TFA stuff. :D

Yes, but Hasbro came up with the concept.

Yes, you're wrong, it's a joint collaboration between Hasbro and Takara on everything, not just those figures.

And people kiss Hasbro's ass because Takara doesn't release this stuff in the US, Hasbro does. If you were right, it's like a friend hooking you up with some rare Japanese TF stuff.

No, Marvel just came up with a great comic book series. :p

To elaborate slightly on Sage's post:
    It's a collaboration.
Takara created Diaclone. Mostly by getting licenses and designs from other toylines and putting them in one toyline. Hasbro licensed them for use in other territories and created the Transformers toyline.
Then Takara licensed that concept back again to sell TFs in Japan.
So you could quite legitimately say that Transformers wouldn't exist in the first place if it hadn't been for Hasbro. Pucker up, buttercup.
Co-designed. If I recall correctly, some fans were also asked for input on aspects of MP Convoy's details.
Co-designed by Hasbro & Takara again.
    Yes. See above.
I don't know about the factions, but I believe that Prime, Megatron et al were originally created by Bob Budiansky for the Marvel comics.

So we have Marvel comics to thank for our favorite Autobot/Decepticon leaders? Sweet...

In regards to the collaboration, we have seen countless interviews with the takara employees that designed RID Prime, various Starscreams...etc.. Does Hasbro actually have employees that design, draws, and builds the figures?

If I recall correctly Hasbro does the design work & some mock up stuff, and then they hand the designs over to Takara for the engineering. I'm not sure if that is for every figure though.
I am sure someone will be able to correct me if I'm wrong, or fill in more details.

yeah, I just looked up the Animated stuff and the guy said it was a two way conversation. Hasbro provides the sketch, Takara determines the logistics of that drawing and builds the actual toy.

Well, i'm still not going to kiss Hasbro's butt for nothing lol. Maybe i'm just picky but Takara has taken care of me for the most part in the past. Encore, TFC, Masterpiece, Alternity, Henkei and Car Robots.

Yes, but either all or nearly all of the early G1 toys were previously sold in other lines. That's why I thought you meant the characters as opposed to the toys.

To all who dislike Hasbro and think they are so bad. You need to look at the history of the toys and actually realize they brought them to us. They are the ones who own all the lisencing in the US not Takara. They brought us all three movies so far and one that will be out next year or whatever. They also lisenced out to all the comic book makers. They have been instramental in getting these ideas from Japan to the US. I know they do not always make things we like but that is they way it goes in the toy industry in general. So, am I brown nosing or rearend kissing to Hasbro? Yes, because without them I would not be the fan I am today. Transformers, all shapes and colors are awesome and I would not have it any other way!

Thank you Hasbro. I love you. But not in that way...

Brian Goldner is kind of cute, though...
