If you are doing heavy photoshop work like Josh Nizzi or Jester/Jolin, that is very different than using a photograph of a car and simply coloring it blue. It has to look like your own art.

I have changed the first post to reflect hat you may use a photograph for the alt mode ONLY.

It's an art contest. Sorry, it is not a customs contest. When we do a custom/kitbashing contest it will eliminate those that can not make customs.

Sorry, no. It must be your own artwork.

If you've never posted the artwork before, then I can't say anything. However, the contest rules state clearly that this must be new art for this contest and not a submission of previously created art. Something you've been working for months on prior isn't really fair when we are forcing everyone else to post newly created art.

    UPDATE:
The rules have been revised to allow people to post a photo of their Alternate, Vehcile or Beast modes only. IT MUST be accompanied by a robot mode created by you.

Also, heavy Photoshop work will be accepted. It must look like an original creation. Look up work by Josh Nizzi, Jester/Jolin for examples. Simply recoloring a photo, and using that as your entry, is not acceptable though.

OK sorry but I just have to nitpick here... I am primarily a 2d artist so this doesnt really affect me. But why is 3d limited only to CG? I can see limiting customs as kitbashers often use large portions of existing (and possibly copyrighted to other companies) toys. But 3d modellers may be able to use existing models of their alt modes which are available online as part of their robot. I assume this is like using photos as part of a 2d design right? And what about original sculpture? I know Jin is an excellent sculptor, and I've seen some amazing custom scratch-builds. And is it ok (if you have the equipment available) to take a 3d scan of a sculpt and submit that as a cg model? (this is done in Hollywood all the time...)

Sculpture is not what this contest is about. This is traditional fan art contest. Modeling, sculpture, etc. are just not a part of this contest. I have nothing against the talented customizers we have in the fandom. When we have a customs/kitbashing contest, that will eliminate those that can not customize figures.

Sounds interesting. I may consider it.

I've had an idea for a tractor Transformer for a while now. Now that I've seen (and loved) ROTF, I've managed to make a conceptual picture of him.

Awesome! Thanks! Yeah the only goal was to use the alt mode to show how I chop it up and change it. There will be heavy painting/drawing work. Thanks! This will be fun :)
