The year 2005 has come and gone...And what a year it was for Transformers fans. One of the most well recieved main lines in years, with Cybertron, produced some astounding figures. Add to that the continued introduction and release of Alternators and 2006 is shaping up to be a great year for everyone.

I'm with Super_Megatron. The reissue of Soundblaster was great. I can't deny Star Convoy either. These figures were something I'd ever dream of owning until 2005.

Yeah Soundblaster was a cool reissue. He was a pain in the neck to find not too mention pricey, but definitely worth it. My runner up is Alternators Wheeljack. He was a surprising choice for the Mustang mold but man what a great car mode and a very imposing bot mode.

My vote goes to Cybertron Optimus Prime and my runner up is Galaxy Force Backglid.

Mine were alternators. Each one I have bought I have been extremely satisfied with.

I'd have to say that Cybertron Prime was one of the best toys available this year. Awesome figure that actually got the much hated supermode gimmick right. Also, his combinations with other characters don't hamper him either. Leobreaker makes a nice arm attachment and Wing Saber replaces his standard trailer backpack nicely. My only real complaint is that you really can't put both Leobreaker and Wing Saber on him at the same time.

My runners up would be some of the reissues from this year... Star Convoy and Soundblaster were figures that I always dreamed of owning, but I could never offord some nice vintage ones. However, the reissues of them were easily affordable.

The entire Cybertron line deserves alot of credit this year too. Every figure in the line has been a pleasure to purchase... even the armada remolds took some fairly non-descript figures and with some nicely added peices and very good paint schemes we recieved some wonderful homages.

    awesome artcle guys :)

so much goodness this year, huh?

I think i might have had to go with Evac, with runners up including Landmine, C.S. Perceptor, BT* Alert (worked way better than it should have, still shoulda been Prowl), Muflap, Quickstrike, BT Laserwave, GF Starscream, Galaxy Convoy, BT Skids and probably lots more i can't recall - not sure when the Combiner limbs came out, late 04 or early 05...

all in all a pretty killer year!!!! :thumbs2:

I'm going to have to agree on Cybertron Prime being number 1. I'm sad to see the Energon gestalts, Bruticus and Constructicon, weren't ANYONE's runners-up, even though the former was released entirely in 2005. They would have definitely made my runner-up list.

Liking the Soundblaster vote as well. Add the Reprolables Soundblaster lables to him and it's a grandslam. Delta did an awesome job on them.

Robot Masters Skywarp and Thundercracker get my vote for favorite toy of the year though. I absolutely love those things and find myself fiddling with them all the time. The only thing better would be Alternator sized jets with the same transformation.:)

I don't know about every last figure, but I do see myself ending up with a good amount of Cybertron. That's a nice change of pace from Armada-Energon where I only bought about half a dozen TFs total.

Nice article, and KS, I'm surprised you didn't pick Starscream as your favorite, I"m remembering how you praised him when you first got him.

One of my favorites has to be Cyb Hardtop.

Virtually no vehicle kibble... heck in robot mode its hard to tell what he changes into.
    Great articulation.

But I can't forget about Alt Meister & Shockblast.

I like how the mods have their favs, so here's mine, the best of 2005(Note: All of them are the ones I have)!

    5th Place: Cybertron Evac
    4th Place: RobotMasters RM-24 Reverse Convoy/Rebirth Megatron
    3rd Place: Alternators Shockblast
2nd Place: Binaltech Asterisk BTA-02 Sunstreaker meets Junko
    1ST PLACE: Cybertron Optimus Prime.

Reason why Cyb. Optimus Prime is #1: Because this guy is definitely worth picking up! Perhaps the best Prime since his 20th Anniversary counterpart. And not only that, his trailer combines with him to form not a pair of super pants (Armada), not added armor (RID), but his backpack with wings! And the fact that he has two bigass cannons that can pwn any other TF. :D  That's good too. He can combine with GF Ligerjack/Cyb. Leobreaker for a bigass claw arm, or GF Sonic Bomber/Cyb. Wing Saber as another winged backpack. If you haven't picked him up yet, I suggest you get $40 and spend it on him! :D :D :D :D

    1st. Cybertron Starscream
    2nd. Alt Shockblast

The only 2 I bought last year.

Anyways cybertron starscream is just the tops for me because of the detail and the imposing sense of doom he brings upon my smaller transforemers.

Were they 2005? Damn. If so, Energon Bruticus is easily the best release of the year. By a mile.
