well, the reason I didn't go with 20 is because it really waters down the rosters. But, I'm pretty sure Ron chose 20 simply to allow more people to participate.
Go to your fantasy profile page. Click Change Image, then Add Photo. The Yahoo! league is currently set at 20 but will most likely be smaller in number once we get closer to the draft date. I think we had 16 last year. I prefer larger numbers of teams because it provides more of a challenge when it comes to personnel. Same with individual defensive players. Can't stand team defenses. But I can certainly understand those who hate individual defensive players. Just preference.

I don't know ESPN too well. It might've been showing old teams and not the new ones. ESPN might've been taking a coffee break and not showed it on my screen. ESPN might have given a bounty hunter money to snipe the new teams off my screen before I could see it. Soooo....yeah.
