I've never played in a league with a "weekly roster deadline" so I didn't specifically know what that setting meant. I'll still try in this league but I'll make sure to keep an eye out for that setting in the future.
You guys should still be able to set your lineups for week one, the 1st -10th today by going into March 30th and adjusting the roster - that will carry forward and change your picks for the entire week. I for one appreciate the weekly setting as logging in every single day to micro manage isn't something my life allows me time to do. I've tried it before but just couldn't make it work for me.
I forgot to mention one of the biggest reasons why we wen't weekly instead of daily. When I first started commissioning leagues back in 2002, we used a daily roster change. Turns out one team decided to use what we now call the "revolving door" tactic where he'd add/drop so often so that he would have players playing practically every day of the week and therefore inflating his team's stats. He kept his core stars but all the others were simply in one day, out the next. From then on, it was weekly roster changes.
See, and I guess that's what I'm used to. The league I was in last year (my first year) was all people here at work, so we were all online 5+ days a week, and we all managed our team to do our best to have players in each position every day. So I assumed that was the case here. Either way, I'm gonna do my best and have fun.
Haha. Did that person win the league through brute force of numbers? You can always set innings limits/positional limits to fight that sort of thing, but there seems to be a way to play whatever system is in place in fantasy baseball. Personally, I like the weekly changes as it prevents the streaming of pitchers, among other things. It looks to be a good season, though, and hopefully no deadwood! (Also, sign up for MLB.tv. This season they've added the option of the radio broadcast along with video on the PS3. It's awesome.)
I'm not complaining about the weekly lineups. I'm in a 10 player keeper league that's in it's 7th season that's weekly and another, that's a little younger, that's daily. I like the strategy that goes into each format. For some reason I was just stumped here.. maybe because the season starts on a Thursday this year, and I could edit still on Wed (which isn't a Monday), but not on opening day. My CBS Sportsline weekly league locks five minutes before the first game of each matchup regardless of what day it is, so I was stuck on that. All good now.. lineup set, benched old man Nathan for the opening series in favor of a Fausto start against the good team in Chicago. I'm bringing the heat, Macon Biscuits,.. nice and toasty for you. Play ball!!!!! (I can not wait for tomorrow!)
We'll see! Is this becoming a competition for who can be in last place? If you are not worst, you are first?
I'm actually pleased with my waiver moves going through. I think I've got a solid lineup and good mixture of guys. That said I took Granderson out of the lineup because I heard he might be out for opening day......and he hits a homerun, lol.
Jason Heyward hit a HR in his first AB in each of his first two seasons now. Kid is a beast. If he can stay healthy he's going to be MVP-ish for a long time.
Well, the season is finally over. My team managed to come back from 3-6 deficit just 2 days ago and won the league. Thanks to Ron for putting it all together and see you guys next year.
