So I've seen this done on other forums and podcasts and thought that this might actually be quite a fun thing to do on TFW.

Basically what happens is that we collectively decide upon a game, purchase (if you don't have it already) and select a bookmark each week to play to or a strict time limit like 2 hours a week, depending on the type of game then come back here and talk talk talk about it.

Ideally what we need are games that are available on both PS3 and 360 (if we can get the Wii and PS2 dudes involved too that would be -amazing-), then we'll compile a list, stick up a poll and everyone can vote on the game.

Then all you have to do is buy or dig out a copy, play, and report back.

Is there mileage in this at all at TFW?

    Bring it.

I'm down with this, how do we select a game. Most of the games I would suggest are PS3 only. Oh! How about the remake Bionic Commando? I will get it tomorrow on the PSN.

Everyone is free to make suggestions, so long as they meet the criteria then they'll be up for votings. Hopefully people won't be dicks and be all "lol Madden '09" and shit.

Are you talking about we all get together to play some multiplayer game? Doesnt that already happen with Halo 3?

No, single player, but parallelling in time.

Twin-Twist have you been cheating on us with another board?

I'm in by the way. So long as we can agree on a game. I'm kinda over the FPS though, unless it's a new kind.

    No, it can be any game, so, for example, the choice is Transformers: Armada;

Week one's assignment will be to play through the entire first area of the game and then stop. Then we come back to the thread and talk about what we found, liked, disliked, ask for tips and advice etc.

Week Two we might feel that one level is not enough, so we can play the next TWO zones and so on and so forth until the game is done.

Yeah that makes sense. I would say keeping it to a minimum playtime/levels is good, because we have other obessions too :)

Totally. I'm more inclined to give it a time limit rather than a level limit.

I suggested a downloadable game due to costs and to start out with something small. Games I have that are on the 360 are.
    Burnout Paradise
    Oblivion IV
    Unreal Tournament 3
    Call of Duty 4
    Orange Box (Halflife 2)
    & Army of Two

My list consists of DMC 4, Folklore, MGS4 (dont mind playing that again), New Super Mario Brothers, FF4, FFXII Revent Wings, Mass Effect, Commando, 1942.

I would like to buy Siren and Bionic. And since Bionic is on 75% of the systems, that might be one to start with.

Well, its not out yet, but Mercenaries 2: World in Flames will be relaesed for PS3, 360, PS2, and PC on Aug 31st.

    That's my recommendation.

Look at Twin Twist, trying to mold is into a proper gaming community!

I have tons of games, so I will endorse this.

Oh oh oh oh! Dunno if this may seem like an awsome idea, but at least for the 360 players, you can open up chat channels while the game is going on. Dunno if any of us would want to use that as we're playing the selected game.

    It could work.
I can't think of any games just now though.

Of the suggestions so far, a couple are way, way, way too epic.

Remember, if we start playing it means starting from scratch, so if you're nominating Burnout or Oblivion, for example, you'd be starting a new game from SCRATCH.

Honestly I think something with a story, with some decent mechanics, and with clearly definable levels so we can call it a day easily.

I really like the Mercenaries idea, but we could do a dry run with something smaller to start with, and Bionic Commando: Rearmed fits that, but I dunno if I have the willpower to confine myself to an hour or two at a time only :lol

Are we going for more current games or can we go the classic route too?

We could go through the prequels for some upcoming games. Mercenaries and Fable would be my suggestions. SW Republic Commando and Full Spectrum Warrior being two more.

Newer games, The Darkness. I loved this game but got diverted, its cheap for both systems too.

Anything is game, obviously cheap and widely available would be awesome. I'll set up some official nominations tomorrow, then the poll Friday.
