It's time to share a new Transformers toy gallery with you - and what better for a midweek update than the latest cool Japan-only release? We're talking about Striker Optimus Prime, a rather cool reworking of Revenge of the Fallen Leader Optimus Prime who's currently completely exclusive to Japan. According to 2005 Photo Staff member SydneyY who took this gallery, this toy is very impressive. It might lack some of the screen accurate sheen of the Buster version, but SydneyY much prefers the more subdued tones of this one - Buster almost looks gaudy next to him! Buster might be the more realistic, but Striker has more character and personality, especially in the eyes, which seem almost alive.

Calling it 'badass' somehow seems like an insult. That's beautiful... may have to pay import prices for it.

Also, Striker Prime is MUCH nicer than Buster IMO, the only thing I prefer with Buster is of course his gun. 

 

Regarding the comment that this is better than Buster Prime, I feel inclined to weigh in as I have both as well.

I don't agree that the end result is actually better than Buster, but it does come surprisingly close. I think Striker has a stronger color scheme, and where no paint was used, better looking plastics were used. I think Striker is by far the best looking leader Prime with minimal paint.

But at the end of the day I still think the chrome, the pin stripes and the other extra details they took the time to paint in really make all the difference. If they'd gone the extra mile with Striker, he would be hands down better than Buster.

But they didn't.  

 

I still prefer Buster Prime over this Striker Prime

This is nothing compare to buster, own both only thing about striker which is a plus; is his shield, detailed eyes with a clearer plastic and darker plastic scheme. Otherwise his gun fall a part easily, useless connector under his arms and he got tight joints which can leave stress mark. Over all 6.5/10 compare to all other movie prime.

Pray to the matix that one day prime will rise with buster color scheme, mecha alive battle mask, striker's articulated eyes, 1st movie articulated hands, ion blaster, blades ejecting within his arms, tighter striker's mega blaster, a axe and buster shield. How much is anyone will to pay for this perfection?

 

Beautiful, beautiful pics, as usual Syd! Thanks for taking the time to do this wonderful gallery. Loved that last pic of all three together. If I didn't already have one ordered, this would have pushed me over the edge!

Oh! And regarding which is better, I think I like Buster Prime in vehicle mode and Striker Prime in bot mode. The chrome looks really beautiful on Buster Prime in truck mode, but not so much in bot mode. However, the duller colors look more realistic, more life-like, on Striker Prime's bot mode. Does that make sense? Just my opinion!

Everyone always forgets to pull his forearm panels back   ... At least it happens a lot to me, unless people do it on purpose to improve articulation?

 

My ban on leader class prevents me from buying this...but it's hella tempting. It may not look technically as good as the buster, but this one just looks FUN.

 

Why would you ban leader class toys? The leader class and HA toys are just about the only DOTM toys that were remotely worthwhile.

That's how I feel, too. Although I love Buster's shiny feet almost to the point of fetishism, hah.

Oh I've never liked buying Leader Class figures until ROTF Prime mould. Looking at my 4 leader Prime now...no regrets
