I opened up this thread to ask owners of TFU Bruticus and/or Superion... which gift set is better. I was asked what I want for Christmas and I said both but I can only get one, so I would like to know. Also this way it helps others who are choosing which one to get. Can anyone help me with my problem? Oh, and can you also list the things you do and dont like about them. UPDATE: And there is also a poll now.
They're both pretty equal, so you wouldn't be disappointed either way(I used to have the Energon versions). Are you a decepticon or autobot fan? Pick the faction you prefer better. If that doesn't work.....I call Heads Superion, Tails Bruticus lol
I don't own either, but from reviews I'd go with Bruticus. The torso piece is more solid than on Superion, plus Silverbolt from that set is pretty notorious for having his legs misassembled.
Just going by pictures from OmegaPrime (?), I'd say Superion. But I'm getting Bruticus too because my Classics 'Cons are getting gang raped as it is.
I like both, but I'd go with Bruticus over Superion. In the words of my girlfriend - "that one's [Bruticus's] combined mode looks bad-ass". Pros for Bruticus: - The hands/feet look better (especially if you make Swindle and Vortex the arms, then he looks like he has hands with proper digits). - Onslaught is much more solid than Silverbolt. - Any combination of limbs is stable and can be posed. - Although Onslaught is weaponless, Blast Off and Brawl are so heavily armed you can easily give their guns to him. Cons for Bruticus: - Swindle has a flying alt-mode and Blast Off doesn't. Pros for Superion: - Limbs seem better matched for their namesakes. - All plane alt-modes having surprisingly little robot-mode kibble (no folded up robots with jets strapped to their backs). - Skydive/Fireflight mold is a very neat little mold. Cons for Superion: - Superion's legs (especially using Air Raid/Airazor) cannot be put side by side straight legged for a neutral pose. - Silverbolt is pretty well hollow. - Silverbolt's knees were misassembled in every box set I saw (fairly easy to fix, though). - Silverbolt has no weapons of his own. Admittedly many of those are pretty weak points. - Air Raid/Airazor's Energon weapons don't make the best hands/feet. - Skydive is pink (a salmonish shade of pink, but pink none-the-less). The above points probably aren't all that strong on a whole, but they're what I could think of that may turn someone on/off a particular set.
I absolutely love that fan made transformation... It's wicked, and exactly what a combiner should look like.
Bruticus has the better body mold and the coptor energon looks kinda like hands. Not liking the different colors but I'll probably get it and paint it black?
This guy has some more alternate transformations for Superion: (Scroll down to see pics) TRANSFORMERS G1 Commemorative Superion Maximus Special - eBay (item 220310398689 end time Dec-11-08 04:40:34 PST) Notice what they did with those hands for Air Raid & Airazor, they turned the bottom parts so he now has 3 fingers and a thumb.
