i know x2... this is an old figure, must have countless repaints and all. anyway this is a commissioned fella with lights... yadaa yadaa. let the pix do the talking. thanks to long haul and andrew's suggestion. removed the door panel from the thigh. reattached back on the rear boot cover. when in alt mode, door panel just slide back in the holes. Slimmed his bulky thigh thru illusion. painted flat black over the inner door panels and the outer thigh. the basic detailing works for the grit and greasy in bot mode. while the alt mode will have squeaky clean finish. the alt mode with lights on.
Looking good so far... what's with the wires? Perhaps if the leg panels could rotate to point backwards (like 'wings') or stay vertical but move the the back of the leg? Not a major issue though really, it IS Jazz after all.
an easy way to make his doors removable, is to take the screws out of his thighs. There is a micro screw that will hold his legs together. Then you can take off the doors, and when you want him to be in vehicle mode, just slide em in.
waiting for another friend to fix the leds and pass the lance/cannon rifle back to me. sounds like a plan. may look into ball joint hinges if i can get the parts. thanks for your input, andrew. you too bovril. thanks for the positive c&c.
updated with some pics. alt mode with light and robot mode with removed door panels. thanks to long haul and andrew for the suggestion.
