With a bunch of my projects on hold, i've decided to do a new one. This one however, will not have his identity revealed to you until you guess who it is. it will be made from the only transformer i had before prime that i never customized, Blackout. He will be based off a G1 character. I'll tell you this, he will not be vortex, sandstorm, whirl, or springer. good luck with guessing!

UPDATE Added new pic of the WIP Altmode

UPDATE Congrats to Terrocon King for guessing

    UPDATE 9/13/08
Added pic of his work in progress robot mode and an update on his WIP vehicle form

    Will add pics later

    Added new pics

^ AND better paint, if you can afford it. Looks like you have been using cheap acrylics, spring for some nicer stuff!

Can't wait to see how this turns out!

Definitely thin down that paint (fluid but not watery), you'll be amazed at the difference it can make.
A precision screwdriver and some fine grade files can also help you deal with any areas that rub before you paint them.

    Good luck! :D

To be fair, it's surprising what you can achieve even with cheap stuff; true, certain cheaper brands to have a pretty dicey formula, but for instance, I've been using craft acrylics for ages, that I got for 99p per 59ml bottle. That's pretty darned cheap stuff. But I've been using the same bottles for several years; they've lasted me ages and they cover really well. A good deal of the stuff I've painted on these boards and elsewhere has been with those acrylics.

No, they can be good for sure, I use stuff like that all time. For certain things, used in conjuction with better paints too. I'd be suspect that any of those Delta Ceramcoat or FolkArt paints used completely as bases or to paint an entire figure would be very durable on a TF though.

(here we go with that old debate again though :D  )

I dont know if its the lighting or the camera. In the second pic, but it looks like you finally smoothed out some of the rough stuff, good job. I haven't the slightest clue what character you're customizing, but thats okay I'll wait and see patiently.

Have we had this debate before? I've been through acrylics vs enamels too many times, but not whether it's necessary to spend lots of money on pricey materials.

It isn't, by the way. :p

Enamels and acrylics are both good.
