Blackout's engine, supposedly. Hence the turbine intakes/claws and all the warning labels. Technically his scorpion mode IS is robot mode.

... I'm not sure how that would go over though... people get enough of a kick out of "rocklord" comments with the protoforms. If blackout turned into a fold up engine thing... then what? "Motorlords lawls?"

The scorpion mode looks cool enough that the robot mode is just sort of a bonus.

 

The spinning claws are awesome. It's cool to see the inners rotate and stuff.

I think if I got him I'd transform him once or twice, but I'd prefer they get rid if the robot mode and made him transform into a turbine or sometihing. That would actually be cooler to me.

 

Ah, but would it be cooler to a kid looking at toys on the shelf? "Converts from Scorpion to MH-3 Mainshaft and Turbine assembly!" just doesn't have that "buy me!" ring to it...

 

Hmmmmmmmmm...meh.

I doubt I'll get this unless I see it on clearance for really cheap. While the Blackout connection is an incentive, I'm just not impressed by this toy. I think the only thing that could get me to want it is if he's an extremely cool character in the movie. My completist tendancies were put to an end after Armada.

If you asked me what was going to be in the TF live action movie before characters were announced, I certainly wouldn't have guessed Scorponok, but I love the fact that he is in it in some form. I am not completely sold on the toy, but that is the first robot pic that doesn't look like a mess, IMO.
