I do too. The character has some history, but most of it in Exclusives. This is the first proper CHUG one, and as it looks like Hasbro are taking control of Fun Pub's characters, we may see him popping up somewhere else.
I'd like to see him pop up elsewhere, but I think it's unlikely we'll see it from the TR voyager. They've got the retail Star Convoy version, the box set G2 version, the inevitable Black Convoy deco and Laser Magnus decos all ahead of Toxitron. As a side note, I'm kind of hoping for the mystery figure to be Diaclone blue Hoist just so I can have an all blue combiner (Hot Spot, Counter Punch, Hoist, Mirage, Bluestreak)
I agree. I'm convinced that it will probably be a jet using the Starscream head, but I actually find that to be the least interesting option among the known unused Hasbro heads. (Well, I guess I don't really want to see that Armada Thrust head... I'd rather see a Seeker than that.)
Gave up on the club stuff after getting my hands on sub 4 and last year's botcon set. Sold it all, had already paid for these. A couple are going to local fellow collectors and the rest on eBay. Unless the bonus figure is something really special I want to keep. Might keep fractyl but seems pointless since I've sold the other bw/cw club toys. Predacus was such a joke. That head was godawful. Here, have a blob of melted solder with some bad paint. Tarantulas from rook was good, unit3 was quirky enough to be fun, but man. What a joke. I just got the 2011 botcon stunticons and have a couple other older pieces --- they are so much better than the past couple years. Better paint, better unique head sculpts (and execution), overall more to offer. Bleh.
If Sunstorm really is the bonus figure, it may well use that Armada Thrust head if they decided to homage the Universe 1.0 version of Sunstorm. There are several different ways they could go with a Sunstorm homage.
Meh the only figs here that I'm kinda into are Toxitron , Lifeline, Counterpunch and MAYBE Fractyl not into pretenders or Scorponok.
Yeah, the seeker heads would be better used for a retail-related thing rather than just for a random club exclusive, especially it being the last one. Then again, i guess they picked Sunstorm because him being one of the "better written" obscure seekers. Heck, it woulda been great if the Seeker/Conehead headed CW Skydive/Air Raid redecoes came with some 3mm-compatible nullrays (Considering that the CW Air Raid/Skydive molds have holes where their elbows are, and they happen to be 3mm-compatible.)
I would definitely like to see Universe Sunstorm from CW Thrust. I still hope a seeker set is in he cards someday. It's begging to be a platinum set.
Excellent news! All of the figures from this assortment will find their way into my classics displays. Counterpunch is the most uninspired for me but he can still go into my Season 3-4 Decepticons shelf while the previous club Punch/Counterpunch can go with the Season 3-4 Autobots. Selfishly I would have wanted the Generations Scamper figure repainted into Metrodash to go along with my 3rd party Maketoys Dystopia Metrotitan but I know he fills a need for BW Dawn of Future's past collectors.
I've said this elsewhere, but Armada Dirge (really, Thrust in brown and blue) would be really interesting in that he'd "complete" the Armada updates of the original six Seekers/Coneheads in the most headache inducing way possible - one FunPub freebie, one FunPub exclusive, one from Hasbro (or Takara), one from Takara Legends, one from Takara UW, then the last one unsolicited in a FunPub subscription. You know, the normal way to complete a set Sunstorm (either Universe from Thrust or G1 from Starscream) would be fine. I guess. I'm kind of ambivalent. Red Wing from Starscream would be the best (IMO) use of the Seeker head (if that's what they're using). Something whackadoodle would be cool, though. Blue Hoist, SG X-Brawn, whatever
Still, i wonder if Funpub planned Scorponok as a way to add a "Legends Candidate" for Predacus. I mean, considering his color scheme and the fact he has a 5mm port, he could serve as a "Shield" piece for the combiner. Considering that both Tarantulas and Ramhorn have 5mm pegs, it could be plausible.
Call it their way of finishing off the pre-BW Predacons once they found out that TFSS 5.0 would be their last. So adding Scorponok as a redeco of Scamper counted as an accessory to an existing figure (Fractyl) and not another figure.
