I have to admit I've left Generations Blurr on the peg quite a few times before. The alt mode just didn't call to me at all. Eventually, on a lark and because I was bored I picked one up off the peg and took it home. I was quite shocked by how much I love this figure. The built in blaster holsters and the slot on the back for his rifle threw me for a loop. When did Blurr become a badass commando?

Anyhow I was just curious if y'all had some similar stories of figures you didn't think you were going to like but wound up loving?

RTS Rodimus for me. At first I mainly got that set for Cyclonus. But I'm finding Rodimus to be alot of fun.

Botcon Cindersaur comes to mind. That one and Slicer were the only Botcon 2010 toys that didn't do it for me.
I really wanted Rapido though and he really wasn't that much cheeper on his own so I bought the set which featured him and Cindersaur, my initial reaction to Cindersaur was that he was pretty bad but he grew on me big time! I wish his claw arm were longer though, besides that I love him!

All of Beast Wars, which I'm almost embarrassed to admit. Hated the very idea when I saw them. Happened to catch the first episode and changed my mind slightly. Two days later I'd bought several (I believe Terrorsaur and Rattrap were my first) and after playing with them a little I was absolutely in love. My love for BW even lead me to buying my first imports. unfortunately a bunch of my BW stuff got lost in a move...

Hot Rod/Rodimus toys. As a kid, I hated him. I didn't start liking him as a character until about 5 years ago. But ask me about Rodimus in 1986, and watch out.

    DOTM Crankcase.

There are already plenty of truck toys in the movie-verse. And plenty of bug-like toys in the movie-verse too.

So why do i like him? It's not just the elongated fingers either.

The original BW Dinobot. I remember when I first saw the toys at a KB Toy Store years after G2 died out. I still liked transformers and at that point I was getting the occassional knock off to fill my fix. Then I saw BW Dinobot, the original rock bubble one before the show was out, and I had thought it was a knock off at first. Then i brought it home, opened it up, and fell in love with Transformers again.

Classics Jetfire when it first came out, I thought looked kinda ugly. Wasn't aware that his head was actually a helmet on top of his normal head, which I then thought was kinda clunky looking. Now it's one of my favorite figures :)

RTS Fallback. Yeah, that guy. I thought, oh great, just another movie repaint, but then I remembered how I thought ROTF Brawn was kind cool. The more I played around with Fallback, the more I realized that he is one kick-ass Transformer.

Energon Scorponok! So Many TF look better on thier box than the toy would ever actually be. With Scorponok he looked like Garbage on the box.... but take him out and MAN! what a winner!

In the IDW comic maxi-series, "All Hail Megatron". Pretty much everyone was a badass commando in that, though.

As to the question - I've brought plenty I thought I was going to love, but the reverse? Not so much. After all, if I thought I was going to not like it... I wouldn't buy it.

But TFs I thought I'd LIKE but turned out LOVING include Classics Bumblebee, RID Prowl, the Insecticons...

dotm Crankcase, in the box in car mode I thought ugh he is so small. But open him up and transform him and wow describes him.

I suppose you could say DOTM Roadbuster. Although by the time I bought him, I didn't think I'd hate him anymore, I still wasn't entirely convinced that he'd be a good figure, and when we first saw pictures of him, I though he looked horrible. He's quite fun, especially in vehicle mode, since he can have both a normal and a weaponized mode (I love cars that have hidden weapons, in this case Roadbuster's missile launchers).

HftD Battle Blade Bumblebee. I didn't think I'd like him and used my Khol's Cash to pick him up. Goodness was he a pleasant surprise.
