Does anybody have TFs directly purchased in China? Are they worth getting? I imagine a lot are KOs. I have a good friend in China, and I'm hoping she may be able to hunt down some for me. I thought I read somewhere that to find real TFs that you have to go to super underground toy stores.

If you go to legitimate toy stores, then, depending on the city, you can find the same ones that you can find in North America. A few odd placed, like Singapore and Hong Kong, get the Takara ones as well.

LOL Super underground stores to get legit Transformers.

No. If you go to an actual store, you can find Hasbro toys. Streetside shops and the like are the ones who are going to have knockoffs.

Seeing as many things manufactured in China are illegal to sell over there, I'm surprised legitimate toys aren't one of them. Don't they have a botcon like event for their fanbase too?

It is quite ironic that all the TF are made in CHINA, but their retailed price is much higher than Malaysia and SG.

If you want to use TAOBAO, please check the rating first. Read a lot of funny news about the fraud cases there.

She lives in Dalian, which is near Korea. When I was there in 2007, I noticed they were having a serious crack down on KO things like DVDs and clothes. Not to say it was gone, but if you were caught buying KO DVDs or CDs then it wasn't pretty.

With the KO TFs, will they be so knocked off that they'll even have fake Hasbro/Takara stamps?

Despite being made in China, they're still American products. They carry any and all applicable taxes it takes to import American products.

Yeah, I bought a few in Toy r us Shenzhen when they first roll out the ROTF toys, so happened that I was there for a few weeks, can't wait till I get home to buy.

It's more expensive than in Malaysia and Singapore.
