I'm just happy to be the type that saw the pics and have my first thoughts not be about it being a female form at all, but about it being a statue and how statues suck.

I didn't even consider it was "hot chick" until some perv mentioned it - and I'm a total perv BTW. My mind does not automatically mix sex with robot toys and for that, I'm thankful.

That IS total underboob and thong though.

How dare an artist try to make a character who was designed to look like Princess Leia look like a girl. He probably molests toasters!

Because we all know (From our mothers) that boobs and fit bodies are evil and only prostitutes dress in a way to accentuate that. I will need to look at all my gender neutral transformers now that don't look like musclemen, male ninjas, or superhero dudes.. because EQUALITY!

I think the colour breakup is wrong in the upper torso. The underboob should be be pink. And the "hips" are all wrong. Where they pivot and where they should are a fair distance apart. Looks sloppy to me.

Which would have arguably hampered the movie from getting the PG rating..

It's no less Arcee than any other interpretation of her beyond the '86 movie/Season 3.

This big time. :)  This statue appeals to my robosexual side big time but I also know that this isn't for anyone so it's fine by me.

Am I the only person here that notices there should be a Bow in one hand and a launching arrow in the other?

looks to me like the person used an Archer's Pose from some kind of Anime or Comic Book Cover. Hell it almost looks like they Used Legolas on the shield sliding down stairs as inspiration for that pose. But it's definitely an Archer's Pose.

That's quite a bit of intellectualization (I'm aware that isn't a word!) to basically make yourself feel better about robophilia. Confirmation bias.

This statue was clearly designed and sculpted to make the figure sexually arousing to heterosexual males. Whatever.

If you look at toasters and think, "I wanna fuck that", or someone makes a toaster that is shaped and painted to look like a woman's input ports, yeah, that's a little pervy. I'm sorry to introduce some calling-it-as-it-is or shatter your self-image. Buy it, don't buy it, but I doubt you could share this with your heterosexual partner and have her not raise an eyebrow (or not consider hiding some of the appliances).

I think that's a really good sculpt and manages to balance the sexy with the badass.

Why do people think the white part is meant to be her skin? Her face is pale pink. If she has a 'skin tone', that's it. She's effectively wearing a pink and white full body catsuit. Even her hands are covered. Very demure.

Hmm. Alright, let's unpack that a little.

People have sexualized many things since time began. You've labeled them "weirdos", which is fine. That's your perogative, but the point of the post wasn't to explore labels. The general overview of the human trend to sexualize everything was provided primarily for context - a guess on why sexy robot sculptures exist to lead into the actual point.

I understand why both opinions exist. Humans are sexual creatures and we all view sexuality differently. Some people really like the idea of certain sexual fantasies to the point of being arguably gross about it. That's okay. Others see it as an affront to the purpose of sex, or are taught that certain behavior is deviant. I've looked into why that is, and rather than get into it let's just say I get why the sentiment is there but feel that the area of discussion is frankly too charged for me to talk about outside of close friends. The bottom line is, we're all different. That's also OK. But I really don't care about why either opinion exists.

What I postulated and submitted for public discussion was my confusion as to why people feel the need to toss pejoratives and/or actually behave in a perverted manner when they see a sexually charged image. Posts like the ones made by @cybertronwarriors and @LazyAza - thoughtful discussions of the artistic value and/or comments on the general aesthetics of the work - are the rarity rather than the norm. Instead, you get people that drool over the figure and make perverse comments, and then others that point and declare that only perverts can like the figure.

As a result, your assertion of "confirmation bias" doesn't really address anything.
In other words, I said: A & C exist - why are people from camp A and C the only vocal people? Where'd C go?
I feel like your response was: By guessing why A exists, you must be A.

But okay, let's talk about the rest of your post.

First, I agree - this statute was made to appeal to heterosexual males. I don't think anyone's refuted that. I'd go a step further and say that anyone that thinks otherwise is probably wrong.

Next, you don't know much about me and unless I'm incorrect, you're making the assumption that I'm a "robosexual". I don't think I am. I think I'm a huge art enthusiast, though. My wife and I are regular art museum patrons and we've attended numerous galleries and shows. Her primary focus is 15th to 17th century Flemish art. I'm more of a "I don't know if it's art but I know what I like" sort of person. She has a tough time with modern art, while I prefer it, especially mixed media. In contrast, I find Flemish art kind of boring and creepy. Etc. etc. Not trying to bore you with my art proclivities, but art and the impact of art, pop or otherwise, is always an interesting subject to me.

With that in mind, while I find the sculpture to be a depiction of an attractive female human form, I don't harbor any desire to have sex with a robot. Frankly, robots don't have anything I'm remotely interested in sexually. Do I find the sculpture "sexy"? If I'm honest, I'd say yes, but she's shaped like a female underwear model. To say otherwise would be like looking at all those samurai Star Wars figures and saying they aren't supposed to appeal to Star Wars fans. Maybe it's just me, but just because something is sexy doesn't mean acknowledging it as sexy means you want to have sex with it.

And that's sort of the issue, isn't it? If someone made a toaster and put a vagina on it I'd probably be a little confused with the person that wanted to have sex with it too. I understand a little more when the attraction is towards something shaped like a sexy human. The blurred line occurs here when you have the image made to look like a fit human female. Like the earlier examples of dryads, it's one thing to want to have sex with the shapely personification of a tree but generally another to want to have sex with a piece of bark with the appropriate accouterments.

Finally, that's a big assumption you're making there. Do you feel that a lesbian wouldn't have questions if her partner brought a sexy Arcee statue home? A bisexual? A homosexual man? I'd bet that it has more to do with what your partner knows and understands about you and/or how much they trust you as opposed to sexual orientation.

Which brings us full circle. Based on your post, it seems that you look at this figure and think: "Oh God, those GD toaster humping perverts." Others look at it and want to lick it, and what's more decide to enthusiastically post requests to see it's ass. Both of those positions are extreme and fascinate me just on an academic level, but the real circus starts when people come out unprovoked and either drop their trousers or start waving morality flags. That's what I /really/ find interesting.

I don't see why some people are for or against this statue, why can't we just have our own opinions without arguing who's right or who's wrong?.To me even tho I am for this I am not going to come on here and argue with someone to make him or her to make them change their mind,so nobody else should do that either,we are all entitled to our own opinions. That is all.

Beautiful sculpt, the colorless prototype really reminds me of Yukito Kishiro's art style. I'd love to see a copy of this statue done in Battle Angel Alita colors.

I was about to say the same thing! She looks more like she's wearing super sentai\Voltron pilot style body suit.
