I was looking at the preorder at BBTS and I was wondering, is it possible that Hasbro didn't want to call him "Tracks" to avoid confusion with RTS Tracks? I know that doesn't make any sense what with all the Bumblebee toys around, but, that's the only reason I can think of that they would give a toy only character Tracks paint job, but not the name.

He's got Hot Shot's head, though.

They just didn't want him yellow again, because that's Bumblebee's shtick.

Can't be. Tracks came out a year and a half ago.

Hot Shot was also blue in Cybertron, as well.

AFAIK Hot Shot has not made an appearance on the show, so I don't kn ow what TFP's head would look like.

I mean, the head design is clearly based on Armada/Animated Hot Shot. Racing helmet, flip down goggles, that whole deal.

    Everybody remember this person.

He's Hot Shot in every way. He's a fast car, he's got Hot Shot's colours and Hot Shot's head.

I'll be selling this guy when my set arrives. There nothing about him that appeases me.

It was a very different blue, and a very different looking kind of car. Not to mention he had a very different head at that point. This toy has a lot of separate Hot Shot elements, but they don't go together, imo. The toy doesn't really say Hot Shot to me.

If they were going to make Hot Shot a different color to differentiate him from Bumblebee, I wish they had gone for Armada Powerlinx red...which was a MUCH more similar type of car and overall look to this PRiD toy.

I was expecting this since technically Hot Shot is meant to be Rodimus as well.

I'm kinda glad they're not doing that now.

Yeah, he was kind of a Bumble Rod character... and it would shoot them in the foot if they planed to release a PRiD Rodimus at some point down the line.

But I think the red makes a better toy and a better Hot Shot homage now. With the red, the homage would be nearly dead-on.

Alternately, even a better, lighter blue would have helped a bit.

On a side note, looking at the pre-order pictures again, the PRiD Hot Shot head almost reminds me more of the RotF Twins than it does Hot Shot. His weirdly-proportioned body doesn't help, either.

He's not supposed to be a reproduction, he's an homage. He has, as you pointed out, the different elements of other incarnations. However he uses them different. I shouldn't have to explain this, we've seen it for years.

I dunno... I think they went with blue so as to not be confused with the red Deluxe cars already in the line, Cliffjumper and Knock Out. Personally, I'm just happy that it's not just another '____ Bumblebee' repaint. They're at least trying to market this as a different character.

This isn't the movie line anymore. Now they can do whatever the heck they want with the molds.

I too wish they went for the traditional Hot Rod homage. It's just my personal preference and Hot Rod(imus) is my favorite character. With that being said I am still glad we're getting the Cybertronian homage of Hot Shot. Still works for me.
