It could also be that they didn't 'bake' the paint through the process that most figure companies use with production toys. Samples are often hand-painted therefore you're going to get plenty of chipping and paint rub. Obviously I have zero idea if that applies here, but I'm not ready to believe the chipping will be an issue on the final version.

I don't mind paint chipping at all in bot mode. The movie bots always have wear and tear in bot mode sometimes even if they JUST scanned another mode, but the vehicle modes are often pristine.

I hope they don't miss all the Orange accents in altmode or bot mode.

Just cancelled my preorder for this guy.

If I have to use a tool to assist in transforming him, I'm out.

I doubt you really need a tool.
I think they used a tool in the video so they could show the actual part moving.
those parts where so small you wouldn't be able to see what happened if it was transformed without a tool.

Anymore than you need a tool to do most things on figures which have panels that are difficult to get to (which is many of them). You want something that requires a tool but is still a great figure- try Klaatu. Now to be fair I'm sure you don't own that figure, but if you bailed because you didn't want a Cosmos that requires a screwdriver to pop the head out... well, you missed out my friend.

The horrible moment when I realize that my $14 deluxe can probably out pose my upcoming $100 "MPM".

A pity the thigh articulation appears to move like an 80's He-Man action figure. TFEVO got so much else right.
