Getermus Reviews: TFC SR-71 Blackbird & X-47 Phantom Ray

I might sound a little overly negative and go into a "nerd rage" about this guy but he is a good figure. I just think that some things could have been done better. The combined mode looks good just a lot of empty space in the chest that probably could've been filled it TFC just didn't try to make another figure out of the chest. Good attempt but didn't really translate well. Enjoy :)  Feel free to comment below.

I put the two pegs on Phantom Rays legs into a couple of holes that are there on the torso of Silverbolt for chest shield mode - just to try to make it more stable. That chest is still a floppy mess.

I LOVE Silverbolt, and I love this Uranos bot - don't get me wrong. But the minute someone comes up with a better chest option, I'll be first in line.

Yeah I tried that after shooting the video and it did make the chest a little more stable but I had to force the tabs into the hole. I hope the someone does come out with a new chest especially to fill in all that empty space.

the work in progress means TFC will SELL you some add-on EXTRA parts, to you to make the toy looks good.
I think at least a new head and a chest piece.

Yeah I really think they could've came up with a better solution for the chest shield. I guess we will see it this summer with the Skys of Uranos upgrade set :)

It looks like video threads are consolidated now, so here's my video for Blackbird!

Well, under 30 minutes is definitely preferable to over 45 minutes (especially since you managed to cover the mods in that time as well), but there's got to be a way for you guys to make these infomercials more succinct...

I used to try to keep them under 10 minutes. Sometimes if I'm really excited about something I'll ramble a bit (like in my Puzzler review), this one just had a bunch of stuff to cover. It's a balancing act. If I skip over too much or don't show every little thing, I get complaints, and if I get too in depth about little things I get complaints. I try to find the right balance between detail and brevity. I don't always succeed.

I personally think the way you do your reviews is perfect, always get excited when you post more TF stuff. Sure sometimes the way you do your thing takes up a lot of time, but I think it works for your style-whenever I want to know more about a figure, you're the reviewer I go to for lots of info. :thumb

That floppy antenna is driving me crazy. QC issues aside Blackbird seems like a big old mess and a step back from the solid work they did on Hercules and the first two members of Uranos.

I hope an enterprising 3P company can step in with a better scaled (with respect to the limbs), better engineered, better designed Silverbolt that uses the TFC limbs.

I meant BIGGER because BB is too small for the limbs. Try thinking before opening your mouth, for once.

I think 20 - 30 minutes is perfect. You need to cover all modes, the transformation, any perks/issues, and show off articulation and size comparisons. If I don't have much time, I'll read a written or photo review but prefer to watch the video ones. After 30 minutes I have a good idea whether or not the figure is for me.

I think Phantom is too big in arm mode, more than any other member being out of scale for "humanoid" proportions.

I'm assuming you're using quotes because you mean human proportions, as given that humanoid typically means "similar to, but not human" proportions? if so, then yes, Phantom's girth is what prevents human proportions. And the small torso/long legs of Superion, kinda.
