TJ movie Devi was really bad as the combiner version didn't have robots modes of each member, only the combined form and alt modes then the stand alone ones you can't even kitbash into having a combined mode as they are all out of scale with each (or are in scale but cos of that can no way combine I can't remember which).

So what improvements, I would bet actually being a combiner as tf fans consider not something closer to a megzord.

Oh, ok. I gotcha. I remember reading (or misreading) some time ago that you could buy the individual bots and use those instead. Makes complete sense now.

Great review. I personally like giant overall better, but Hercules definately looks intimidatiing and his size is HUGE! However for me, I would love to snag Hercules for his sheer size alone, but if I can afford it, I'll get giant. Sadly, I will only get Giant if I can afford it. Hey but, if anyone out there wants to make a few small donations to help me get Hercules I'm all for it. LOL :p

Yeah. Lots of changes to the green version of Gaint. I'm realy looking forward to seeing how the new version compares to Herc.

Yeah, I can't wait for Type 61 to come out and see the reviews. I haven't pre-ordered it yet as I'm still saving up. ;)

So, after having Giant and Hercules in hand for a while I've made my decision about which I would choose if I could only have one.

    Giant Wins!

After contemplating all the pros and cons about size, playability, style, etc., the one issue that is most important to me is quality, specifically the combiner joints. Giant uses a quick-release type mechanism instead of friction. The joints on Giant are not going to wear out. Plus, I haven't heard a single complaint about Giant's ratchet pieces shredding. Mine sound like they'll be harmoniously clickity-clacking for a long time. Hercules on the other hand....

I feel confident that the vast majority of Giant bots out there will be in excellent condition ten or twenty years from now, probably much longer. I can't say the same about Hercules. For the kind of money we're spending on these, they should last a long time.

The only real quality issue I have with Giant is that the mobile crane hinge where he splits in half for combined mode could crack or break. The easy fix for that is to just not use the grey swing-out piece (back left of alt mode over wheel) to hold him together (in combined mode). They grey piece is completely unnecessary and is what can cause the hinge to be stressed.

So there it is. Giant is the best IMHO!:)

If TFC doesn't make some vast improvements on their combiner joints then Super-Ion will be a non-purchase for me. I don't care how cool it is otherwise.

    Awesome thread TJD!:)

Thanks! And glad u got both, and shared your opinions with us!

Wasn't referring to the fact that you used my picture. Was referring to the comparison in general.

Well... we were in a different line of thought then. ;)

As far as comparison is concerned, MT borrowed some design aesthetics from TFC, which is kinda ironic/funny - 3rd Parties "borrowing" from other 3rd parties... :lol

TJ I noticed in your review (which was fantastically thorough BTW) that the hips on your Herc/Heavy Labor appeared to be quite loose. Was yours a Version 1 and if so, did you reply the replacement hips? I seem to recall you referencing that the fixes were not necessarily helpful and this is an area of concern for me as I have my first two Herc figures en route. And as I share them with my ten year old daughter (who is very sure-handed and careful- she can fully transform MP Rodimus!) they will definitely be combined and transformed quite a bit rather than just displayed.

Yeppers. Those are the replacement hips. At the same time, though... if you're ordering the version 2, I don't know if it's just the replacement hips added on, or some other fix.

It's V2. Guess we will just have to see how it holds up. Our MP Rodimi are doing fine so far. Wish TF source would ship them but we will still have four more parts to go anyway.

Exactly what I needed to know. Don't plan on standing him on glass or polished wood or anything. Tks!
