One of the most important points of any TF show is the characters. Right now, when looking at the past 3 shows - Prime, Rescue Bots and Animated - there's a theme going on with the main Autobots. Take Optimus out and all three shows have 4 main Autobots, that more or less, fit the same role in their own shows.

Each show has a badass/tough character, a kid appeal character, follow the rules/level headed character, and the gentle giant. While this is very obvious with TFP and TFA, I think RB still fits within those main roles.

Animated: Prowl, Bumblebee, Ratchet and Bulkhead
Prime: Arcee, Bumblebee, Ratchet and Bulkhead
Rescue Bots: Heatwave, Blades, Chase and Boulder

So my question is this: looking at the Autobots, which show's cast is the best balanced, most enjoyable, has the best characterization and has the best interaction with each other? Which show's cast do you enjoy watching the most, just by looking at the 4 main Autobots without taking Optimus into account?

Bonus Question! And if you could make your own ideal cast with 4 Autobots, picking and choosing from each of the 3 shows, what would it be?

I liked the BW main Maximal cast the most. All the characters were lovable, everyone interacted with everyone, they all had solid development, etc. Of those three, Animated is the best.

Rescue Bots definitely, the characters all have brilliant characterisation and development throughout the series, particularly with Chase, who starts off being a by-the-book character, but later got some great moments when he tried Earth humour and also when he questioned Chiefs Burns' white lie

    Tie between TFA and Prime.

For me my ideal cast between the 5 is this:

    TFA Optimus Prime
    TFA Bumblebee in Prime's design
    TFA Bulkhead
    TFP Ratchet
    TFP Arcee

The Animated cast is my favorite of the three, tied all time with my love for the Beast Wars group.

Animated, by miles, especially the way they were characterized in the series finale.

Animated. All the Autobots have character.

Unlike TFP Optimus and Bulkhead. Haven't seen much of RBs to say for certain.

is it really fair to add rescue bots because they haven't even got into season 2 yet but prime I understand cause it has the most episodes.

Animated my fav out of the 3. Most of prime is based off of character personalities in the past except arcee
Optimus prime: g1 but more depressed.
    Bulkhead: animated just less clumsy
    Ratchet: animated just less grump
Bee: 100% same as the movie
    Wheeljack: drift
    Smokescreen: basically hot rod.

Didn't see rescue bots but I'm sure they are original.

Animated. Prime and Rescue Bots don't even come close. In TFA, the entire main cast of Autobots were all incredibly well developed by the end of the first season, leaving tons of room for new characters to be developed in season two. In Prime, you get people saying they want to explore the main cast before getting new characters way into season two. Rescue Bots has a very enjoyable cast but nothings really going on with them.

I'd say that Animated and RB are tied for first. I like TFP's cast too, but the characters just aren't as enjoyable as Animated and RB.

Rescue Bots gets mad props for not being the typical "Optimus Prime and a handful of established (or mostly established) characters"-setup.

Prime now has more episodes than Animated, is it fair to compare the 2? It doesn't even matter anyway? Rescue bots has done a better job a characterization than Prime in it's one season.
