I got this set so I could get Prime and Megs and the DVD (noTV, hadn't seen the show yet.) I knew Megatron's alt mode was way off but I didn't know how bad til I saw the animation. The poor designer that did the cybertron mode Megs must've gotten a preliminary sketch to build from. I had a couple ideas to improve the figure and finally got an opportunity. I removed the silly pink 'battle damage' and touched up some paint. Then I got to the problems with the alt mode. It's not really great but a definite improvement.

*edit* - added screen cap of alt mode.

This is an attempt to show how this was accomplished, a tutorial if you will.

Animated Deluxe Class Megatron (2 pack)

Take the cannon, this is the only physical modifications done, the figure itself only had paint changes.

here are my parts in the original configuration.

I carefully cut the cockpit off the cannon and turned the beam cannon upside down to have the red vents on the bottom like in the show. I just unscrewed it and moved the post that attached it to his arm to the other side. (or I would have if I hadn't dropped it and lost it, butterfingers) It is now the red peg seen at the bottom.

I then added pegs on the bottom of the cockpit unit and fins made from the energon blades.

Now one post goes in the old peg hole on the cannon, fold the joint in the cannon and use the peg on the rear of the canopy section to attatch to Megatrons rump.

Now you have a better rendition of the cybertron alternate mode for Deluxe Class Animated Megatron!!

I hope this was fairly clear on what I did. Let me know if you need any points clarified.

From what I can see of the transformation his feet end up flat against his body where his hips are and I haven't found a way to do that yet. :)

The only physical change I did was to the fusion cannon\cockpit.
I separated the cockpit at the last segment so the cannon still had the proper length then I actually flipped the cannon over. The cannon's red vents are on the side closest to his arm in the show. then I added pegs to the front and back of the cockpit. so it connects to his back and to the hole that the handle used to be in. The goofy energy blades provided the fins to each side of the cokpit like in the screen caps. The rest was just a different transformation.

And what's up with that stupid "battle damage" Hasbro keeps putting on everything? And by everything, I mean this particular DVD 2-pack.

Whoops!! My camera batteries are dead! I was going to take pics of the cockpit and cannon pieces by themselves so you could see easier.

    any who . . .

I just cut the cannon and cockpit apart after the first "segment" so the cannon had one segment still on the joint. In alt mode I flip down the joint to attach the gun to the cockpit, it give the "jet" a funny bump on the bottom but not too bad.

Okay most of my cuts are made with an x-acto, I make small repeated cuts then lose patienca and snap it. Here is a picture that shows where I cut a bit better.

    Hope that helps.
