I\'d imagine Hasbro would sell a lot more figures if they used the Armor Knight Optimus mold. 

 

They can't, the armor knight it's exclusive from takara.

 

Seeing Drift on the packaging almost totally red makes me think the released concept art is final, and that means that Hound is going to have a robot mode with parts of the old Oshkosh on it instead of parts of the new alt mode.

I could go along with High Octane Bumblebee and Evasion Optimus having parts of their previous alt mode as they (Prime in particular) were only going to have those forms for part of the film, but if they're going to the bother updating Hound's robot mode, you'd think they'd change little details like the headlights etc.

Hasbro could release that mold stateside if they wanted to. It is not exclusive to Japan. So far it's only been released in Japan.

It would be good if you had some idea of why. As an idea it sounds wrong, but contracts and deals are made for various reasons- so maybe this is a thing for some reason. None the less I'll remain unconvinced until we come up with the "why" part.

 

Well, the 'why' means that, Takara have the armor knight or AD-31 as exclusive, hasbro sometimes they use their own molds, and sometimes too they think that the actual mold they already have it's good or better TO SELL than the one that use the other (takara) in the japanese market (when it isn't).

 

I know its a shit mold, but those Dark Spark colors are amazing.

 

I actually like the mold, I think it looks great. The problem of course is that it is a long way from screen accurate.

 

Doesnt mean Hasbro cant use it. The RID Battle Grimlock retooling was from Takara and Hasbro still released it in the exclusive 2 pack. There was also the Takara exclusive Groove which was eventually released in the US.

Hasbro could have used this retool and chose not to.

 

By the way, why are people saying the car mode is wrong, I dont see how its any difference to the 06 concept camaro

 

It's been said above but this mold uses the production version of the camaro. Note the lack of ram air scoop above the bow tie. The big, functional side view mirrors. The XM Satellite antenna on the roof. I haven't looked at the back but I'm gonna assume that the concept's big, semicircle exhaust pipes are gone. Replaced with the production model's smaller circular exhaust pipes. Honestly not a huge deal but it does take away from the accuracy of this masterpiece.

Dont count on it. There are no events open to the public until Toyfair at the end of february, and hasbro has scaled back last year to only have the new stuff there anyways. If you want an indication, the only thing revealed last year in january at one of the upcomng events was the apeface titan master but no one saw pics until February,s toy fair. So dont expect any actual reveals till then.

So, you will be getting new reveals in about 5 weeks.
