Lol, in a perfect world they would. Actually no, just Nolan. But sadly I heard he has other projects lined up. Realistically, I might end up wanting to see Jackson and Spielberg reunite depending on how Tintin is. For those of you saying Lucas should do it (no offense), remind me again how his last four movies were received by the public.
People really need to learn a LOT more objectivity when it comes to who their favorite directors are vs. which directors are suited to and could actually pull off a successful Transformers movie. I'm no fan of Bay, but these movies were indeed right up his alley regardless of how well/poorly he ultimately made them. On the flipside, I am a diehard fan of Nolan, but would never want to see him tackle Transformers. He's done an amazing job with Batman, but that's because that character & world fit right into Nolan's style. Spielberg... yeah he's made some great movies, but he would absolutely kill TF with his usual boring schtick of father & son relationships. The guy puts KIDS in everything that isn't r-rated, so if you thought Bay had too many humans, just wait til Spielberg gets a hold of it. But whatever, it's all moot anyway since none of these endless redundant "new director" threads will have any impact on who's chosen if it ever happens.
I agree. He took a guy in a suit and made it fun and cool. Now imagine he had Bay's budget and a good script.
My top picks are Justin Lin and Jon Favreau. They have proved to me that they can handle just about everything a good Transformers movie requires. I would also like Lucas and Spielberg to make them, but the last time they teamed up we got Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. As much as I enjoy their work, I don't want Nolan or Abrams. Nolan's style doesn't fit well with Transformers and Abrams could do it if he woul quit with the shaky cam thing. I'd like to see Bay return as he knows what he needs to make these movies blockbusters.
I'd also like to nominate Louis Leterrier. Watch The Transporter 2 and The Incredible Hulk back to back and you'll see why.
Peter Jackson if it was a reboot. He knows how to bring an elaborate fiction to life. If he could adapt LOTR, then he can make an incredible TFer movie. It was a sequel? I wouldn't be against Michael Bay returning. But I would prefer someone new just so I don't have to read people bitch and moan about him. If a new director... Jerry Bruckheimer was behind the first POTC, right? Then again, he was behind the other three too... I just think Steven Spielberg would need to take full creative control.
Gore Verbinsky, already said why countless times. Peter Jackson, Cameron, Ridley Scott, JJ. Abrams? Those guys would never make a TF movie [specially Cameron, the guy's ego is larger than Saturn], aim lower guys, aim lower.
here is one of my older posts on this very subject: Directors I wouldn't mind directing TRANSFORMERS: Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis, Clint Eastwood, Riddley Scott, George Lucas, James Cameron, or John Milius. Directors I woudn't want near TRANSFORMERS: Uwe Boll, Guillermo del Toro, Tim Burton, Roland Emmerich, Paul W.S. Anderson, Jan de Bont, Paul Hunter, Brett Ratner, Brian Singer, J. J. Abrams, Mel Gibson, Peter Jackson, Quentin Tarantino, Roman Polanski, Barry Sonnenfeld, Robert Rodriguez, John Landis, the Wachovski brothers, Spike Lee, Christopher Nolan, or David Fincher. Now I also want to add Knight M. Shyamalan to the second list.
